Padres | Alexi Amarista not playing Friday

Fri, 15 May 2015 15:23:49 -0700

San Diego Padres SS Alexi Amarista is not in the starting lineup Friday, May 15. SS Clint Barmes is starting at the 6 and hitting eighth in the batting order against Washington Nationals SP Jordan Zimmermann.

Fantasy Tip: Neither Amarista nor Barmes ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) are strong options at FantasyScore when they are in the starting lineup this year. Barmes is especially a weak pick to click while facing the dominant Zimmermann.

Padres | Alexi Amarista performs well

Wed, 06 May 2015 21:42:22 -0700

San Diego Padres 2B Alexi Amarista went 3-for-5 with a double, two RBIs and a stolen base Wednesday, May 6, against the San Francisco Giants.

Fantasy Tip: Amarista ($2,500; 5.0% of cap) snapped an 0-for-15 skid in a big way. For a slap hitter Amarista strikes out a little too much, but if he can start to hit a little more consistently he could be a solid value in FantasyScore.

Padres | Clint Barmes gets start

Sat, 02 May 2015 16:42:15 -0700

San Diego Padres SS Clint Barmes will be in the starting lineup Saturday, May 2, against the Colorado Rockies and SP Jorge De La Rosa. Padres SS Alexi Amarista will be used off the bench.

Fantasy Tip: Barmes ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) is benefiting from a .389 BABIP and is hitting .296 so far this season. Unfortunately for FantasyScore owners, Barmes only has one home run, one RBI and six runs to show for his high average. Batting eighth Saturday, Barmes should be avoided on FantasyScore.

Padres | Alexi Amarista out against lefty

Mon, 20 Apr 2015 14:51:17 -0700

San Diego Padres SS Alexi Amarista is not in the starting lineup against Colorado Rockies SP Jorge De La Rosa Monday, April 20. SS Clint Barmes is starting at shortstop and hitting eighth in the batting order.

Fantasy Tip: Barmes ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) isn't much of an offensive force, and hitting at the bottom of the lineup isn't all that attractive for FantasyScore users. However, the matchup against De La Rosa is intriguing, and he'll be playing at hitter-friendly Coors Field. Barmes is a low-priced dice roll tonight at shortstop.

San Diego Padres SS Everth Cabrera (hamstring) was placed on the disabled list Tuesday, Aug. 12, with a strained left hamstring. In a corresponding move OF Jacob Goebbert was recalled.

Fantasy Tip: Cabrera is worth stashing in NL-only leagues and some deep mixed formats. This will be his second visit to the DL this season with a left hamstring injury. Alexi Amarista stands to gain additional playing time and added value in NL-only leagues. Check back for updates on the severity of Cabrera's hamstring injury.

Padres | Rymer Liriano debuting, Everth Cabrera out

Mon, 11 Aug 2014 14:44:53 -0700

San Diego Padres OF Rymer Liriano is making his major league debut batting seventh and starting in right field Monday, Aug. 11. SS Everth Cabrera (hamstring) is out of the lineup, with INF Alexi Amarista starting at the 6.

Fantasy Tip: Liriano, one of the team's top young prospects, is finally past Tommy John surgery. He's a very talented outfielder that has a nice combination of power and speed, which should play nicely at PETCO Park. It's unlikely the Padres called him up to sit the bench, so look to acquire him in all NL-only leagues. He's worth a flier in a deep mixed league for his speed.
