The Cleveland Indians finalized their deal with the Chicago Cubs that sent OF Kosuke Fukudome to the Indians. The Indians sent the Cubs OF Abner Abreu and P Carlton Smith. To clear room on the roster, the Indians designated OF Travis Buck for assignment. Fukudome waived his limited no-trade clause to approve the deal.

Indians.MLB.com's Anthony Castrovince reports Cleveland Indians SP Yohan Pino, SP Chuck Lofgren, RP Carlton Smith, RP Steven Wright, C Matt McBride and OF Jose Constanza were left unprotected and could be taken in the Rule V Draft.
