Giants | Make disabled list moves

Tue, 21 May 2013 10:27:26 -0700

The San Francisco Giants placed Ryan Vogelsong (hand) and Santiago Casilla (knee) on the 15-day disabled list. They recalled 1B Brett Pill and RP Sandy Rosario from Class AAA Fresno.

Fantasy Tip: It's yet to be determined who'll replace Vogelsong in the rotation for the next month-plus. Rosario probably isn't an option because he's only started two games at any level since 2009. Casilla's loss leaves Jeremy Affeldt as the chief setup man. Pill is still just NL-only depth.

Giants | Brett Pill recalled

Mon, 13 May 2013 11:49:48 -0700

The San Francisco Giants recalled 1B Brett Pill from the minors Monday, May 13, and optioned OF Francisco Peguero in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: It's unclear how often Pill will be in the team's starting lineup, but this can't be good news for Brandon Belt, who hasn't been able to get going this season. Pill's power hasn't translated to the majors yet, and he'll have to improve against lefties to overtake Belt, though.

Giants | No plans to recall Brett Pill

Fri, 10 May 2013 16:35:31 -0700

San Francisco Giants 1B Brett Pill has the most RBIs in all of minor league baseball at the moment, but the team has no plans to call him up at the moment.

Fantasy Tip: The Giants would still like to get Brandon Belt going, and they're giving him plenty of time for that. If Belt continues to underwhelm, though, there may be a move in the near future to bring Pill up.
