The Oakland Athletics placed RP Trystan Magnuson (shoulder) on the 15-day disabled list with right shoulder tendonitis Thursday, Aug. 18, and recalled P Jordan Norberto from Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding move.

Oakland Athletics RP Jordan Norberto will join the team in Seattle Monday, Aug. 1. He was acquired Sunday, July 31, in the deal with the Arizona Diamondbacks involving RP Brad Ziegler.

The Arizona Diamondbacks have agreed to terms on one-year contracts with Ps Josh Collmenter, Sam Demel, Barry Enright, Juan Gutierrez, David Hernandez, Dan Hudson, Juan Jaime, Zach Kroenke, Kam Mickolio, Kevin Mulvey, Jordan Norberto, Yonata Ortega, Joseph Paterson, Rafael Rodriguez, Carlos Rosa, Leyson Septimo, Daniel Stange, Brian Sweeney and Esmerling Vasquez, Cs John Hester and Konrad Schmidt, IFs Tony Abreu, Brandon Allen and Ryan Roberts and OF Cole Gillespie and Gerardo Parra, according to a team press release. All players on the 40-man roster are now under contract for the 2011 season.

Arizona Diamondbacks RP Joe Paterson may have the edge to make the club as a lefty specialist, according to The Arizona Republic's Nick Piecoro. However, RPs Mike Hampton and Jordan Norberto could push Patterson for a spot. Ps Leyson Septimo, Zach Kroenke and Clay Zavada are longer shots.

Arizona Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson is not naming a specific closer with RP Juan Gutierrez (shoulder) on the disabled list, according to MLB.com's Steve Gilbert. "I will tell you as we look at it recently, he would shut the game down for us," Gibson said of RP Aaron Heilman. "But I can't say that I've named a closer. It could be anybody, it really could. It could be left-hander RP Jordan Norberto."

Arizona Diamondbacks interim manager Kirk Gibson said he has been pleased with how RP Jordan Norberto has performed since being called up from the minors, report Doug Haller and Jim Gintonio, of The Arizona Republic. Norberto has not allowed a run in 2 1/3 innings.
