Cincinnati Reds RP Logan Ondrusek (shoulder) resumed a throwing program Tuesday, July 29. Manager Bryan Price was glad the reliever was ready to throw again after being shut down for several days. "He still had just a bit of soreness (Monday), so that's a good sign," Price said. "There will be a throwing protocol. He's going to have to take some steps as far as effort level, long toss, and bullpen to be able to sign off on reactivation. If we activate him and he's sore in the first outing, we have to put him back on for 15 days."

Cincinnati Reds RP J.J. Hoover blew the save Saturday, April 5, allowing a grand slam, which all four runs were charged to him, without recording an out.
Fantasy Tip: You could see Logan Ondrusek in the next save chance as they await Jonathan Broxton's (forearm) return. Ondrusek hasn't been unhittable, but he has yet to yield an earned run.

Updating a previous report, Cincinnati Reds RPs J.J. Hoover, Logan Ondrusek, Manny Parra and Sam LeCure are all closing possibilities until RP Jonathan Broxton (forearm) returns from the disabled list next week. Manager Bryan Price seems to indicate that Broxton is the favorite to close when he returns. "I'm not to the point where I'm going to designate a guy. We anticipate Broxton being back relatively quickly. We know all of those pitchers I mentioned have a history in this league. If we can match them up as best as possible until we're able to get a guy like Broxton, who's been a closer, back. He'll be the guy who holds down the fort until Aroldis Chapman comes back," Price said.
Fantasy Tip: It's pretty clear that Broxton is the favorite for the primary closing duties when he's healthy, leaving the other options as setup men based on matchups. Grab Broxton now if you are in need of more saves options.

The Cincinnati Reds have placed SP Johnny Cueto (lat) on the 15-day disabled list with a right lat muscle injury. In a corresponding move, the team recalled RP Logan Ondrusek from Triple-A Louisville.
Fantasy Tip: Cueto's injury-plagued season continues with his third trip to the disabled list. It's not known how long he will be out this time, but he missed around a month last time he was sidelined with a lat injury. Owners should look to stash him on their bench or disabled list until he returns. Tony Cingrani, who will jump back into the rotation, should be owned in all formats.

Cincinnati Reds manager Dusty Baker said RPs Aroldis Chapman (allergies) and Jonathan Broxton are both unlikely to be available in a save situation Tuesday, April 30. Chapman is dealing with allergies. "Chapman looked like hell. I don't think he's available tonight," Baker said. "I don't know if (Jonathan) Broxton is available tonight. We may have to close with somebody else. He's gone two days in a row and he threw 30 pitches the day before. I was a little apprehensive about using him last night. It's not the innings sometimes, but the workload of that inning." Chapman has also worked the last two days.
Fantasy Tip: Logan Ondrusek or Alfredo Simon are the likely options to fill in if a save situation arises tonight, but they shouldn't be added just for one night.
