Texas Rangers P Michael Kirkman (skin cancer) allowed two runs on seven hits over five innings in a rehab start for Double-A Frisco Friday, Aug. 2, with two walks and two strikeouts. Assistant general manager Thad Levine said his velocity was clocked between 90 and 94 mph.

Texas Rangers P Michael Kirkman (skin cancer) might be ready for a minor-league rehab assignment in the first week of August. He has been working out in Arizona while getting treatment for skin cancer.

The Texas Rangers transferred P Michael Kirkman (triceps) from the 15-day to 60-day disabled list Wednesday, June 12. He is getting ready to begin treatments for a recurrence of cutaneous lymphoma on his right triceps and will not be eligible to return from the DL until Aug. 6.

Texas Rangers P Michael Kirkman (triceps) has been placed on the 15-day disabled list because of a recurrence of lymphoma around his triceps. He is expected to make a complete recovery. Kirkman will begin treatment shortly and will be allowed to participate in baseball activities.

Texas Rangers SP Nick Tepesch has won the No. 5 starting rotation spot. SP Michael Kirkman will join the bullpen. Tepesch's first start will come April 9 against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Fantasy Tip: Tepesch has never pitched in the majors and will go through growing pains at some point along the line. He relies on location and ground-ball outs mainly. He's purely a deep AL-only commodity.

Texas Rangers pitching coach Mike Maddux said RPs Robbie Ross and Kyle McClellan are favorites to earn spots in the bullpen assuming one of them isn't the fifth starter. RPs Tanner Scheppers and Michael Kirkman are also favorites for the bullpen. RPs Joe Nathan and Jason Frasor are already locks. RP Josh Lindblom will receive a long look in camp.

Texas Rangers P Michael Kirkman shortened his arm motion behind his body as he goes through his pitching routine this offseason in order to give him better command. "I've really had a hard time in spring the past few years and I don't know if it's that the arm wasn't ready," Kirkman said. "It should be. I'm more ready this year than I have been in the past, physically. My arm should be right there. Totally, across the board, it feels more ready than it has in the past. Arm strength is better than it's been."
