Twins | Pedro Florimon, Chris Herrmann optioned

Thu, 08 May 2014 12:44:30 -0700

The Minnesota Twins optioned SS Pedro Florimon and C Chris Herrmann to Triple-A Rochester Thursday, May 8.

Fantasy Tip: This means that the Twins are comfortable using some combination of Eduardo Escobar and Danny Santana at the 6. Both are interesting additions for AL-only managers. Florimon can be discarded in all leagues.

Twins | Riding Eduardo Escobar

Fri, 02 May 2014 10:02:04 -0700

Minnesota Twins assistant general manager Rob Antony said the team will continue to ride SS Eduardo Escobar at shortstop for now, with SS Pedro Florimon hitting .111 and stuck on the bench. SS Danny Santana will be another bench option. "Escobar is swinging the bat well," Antony said. "I think Gardy plans to play him primarily at short right now. Gardy's going to ride that one and give him a chance right now, and Danny will be more of a bench guy." The team thinks Santana may also be able to fill in in the outfield.

Fantasy Tip: Florimon can be dropped in all mixed leagues, for now. Escobar and Santana are long-term bets in AL-only leagues to take the gig away from Florimon if they prove their worth.

Twins | Pedro Florimon to see game action

Thu, 13 Mar 2014 14:59:52 -0700

Minnesota Twins SS Pedro Florimon (appendix) is scheduled to play in a minor league game Friday, March 14, and he's been taking batting practice and fielding groundballs for the last week. He faced live pitching Thursday, March 13. However, Florimon may not be ready for opening day. INFs Eduardo Escobar, Jason Bartlett and Danny Santana are candidates to take Florimon's place.

Fantasy Tip: If the Twins are playing it cautious, they'll probably sit Florimon out to start the year. His replacement won't be worth a roster spot on your team, and Florimon should only be looked at in AL leagues.
