Pirates | Jung Ho Kang starting at 3B

Wed, 22 Jul 2015 13:56:08 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates SS Jung Ho Kang will start at third base against Kansas City Royals SP Edinson Volquez Wednesday, July 22, and is batting fifth in the lineup. SS Pedro Florimon will start at shortstop and is batting ninth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Kang ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) likely will start at either shortstop or third base until some of the injured players return. He has picked up at least one hit in each of the last eight games and could be a solid starting option on FantasyScore. Florimon is known more for his defense and should not be a fantasy option at this point.

The Minnesota Twins optioned SS Pedro Florimon and C Chris Herrmann to Triple-A Rochester Thursday, May 8.

Twins | Riding Eduardo Escobar

Fri, 02 May 2014 10:02:04 -0700

Minnesota Twins assistant general manager Rob Antony said the team will continue to ride SS Eduardo Escobar at shortstop for now, with SS Pedro Florimon hitting .111 and stuck on the bench. SS Danny Santana will be another bench option. "Escobar is swinging the bat well," Antony said. "I think Gardy plans to play him primarily at short right now. Gardy's going to ride that one and give him a chance right now, and Danny will be more of a bench guy." The team thinks Santana may also be able to fill in in the outfield.

Fantasy Tip: Florimon can be dropped in all mixed leagues, for now. Escobar and Santana are long-term bets in AL-only leagues to take the gig away from Florimon if they prove their worth.
