Former Cleveland Indians C Sandy Alomar Jr. has accepted a spot on manager Terry Francona's staff for 2013. However, Alomar might still be a candidate for another manager position elsewhere this winter. Indians general manager Chris Antonetti said former Houston Astros manager Bradley Mills is also a candidate to join Francona's staff. Hitting coach Bruce Fields and third base coach Steve Smith will not be back with the Indians for the 2013 season. It is still unclear whether pitching coach Ruben Niebla, bullpen coach Dave Miller or first base coach Tom Wiedenbauer will be back with Cleveland next season.

Cleveland Indians third base coach Steve Smith was suspended two games Thursday, Aug. 5, for his role in a bench-clearing melee against the Boston Red Sox earlier this week, according to The Associated Press.
