Seattle Mariners C Jesus Montero leads the list of 10 prospect catchers to watch in 2012, according to MLB.com. Also on the list in order are Devin Mesoraco (Reds), Travis d'Arnaud (Blue Jays), Gary Sanchez (Yankees), Wilin Rosario (Rockies), Yasmani Grandal (Padres), Christian Bethancourt (Braves), Ryan Lavarnway (Red Sox), Sebastian Valle (Phillies) and Jorge Alfaro (Rangers).

Colorado Rockies C Wilin Rosario worked with former Major League catcher and New York Yankees C Tony F. Pena in the Dominican Republic for a couple of days during the offseason. "He helped me with my target and where to set up my glove," Rosario said. "I always like talking to people who have played the game for a long time. You can learn and get better."

The Colorado Rockies hope that C Wilin Rosario will be able to catch two to three games per week, with C Ramon Hernandez serving as the starter. If Rosario is not ready to handle the workload, Hernandez will be backed up by Cs Wil Nieves and Jordan Pacheco.

Colorado Rockies C Ramon Hernandez will be the team's starting catcher next year, and Cs Wilin Rosario and Jordan Pacheco will fight it out for the backup duties. Colorado will also try to sign Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim C Jeff Mathis if he is non tendered.

Colorado Rockies C Chris Iannetta is in the plans to be the starting catcher again next season. It's unclear whether C Wilin Rosario will begin in the majors to gain seasoning behind Iannetta or head to Triple-A.

The Colorado Rockies are giving strong indications that they will be willing to trade C Chris Iannetta to free up payroll for next season. If that does happen, C Wilin Rosario will take over the catching duties full time.
