Kansas City Royals P Noel Arguelles (shoulder) threw a 32-pitch bullpen session Monday, Feb. 21, The Kansas City Star's Bob Dutton reports. Arguelles is on a limited throwing program, but he should be ready when the season starts. "He looked good," pitching coach Bob McClure said. "You could never tell that he was hurt by the way he's throwing."

OF Buck Coats, P Adam Bostick and P Nelson Payano were reassigned.

Bob Dutton, of The Kansas City Star, reports Kansas City Royals P Noel Arguelles threw 20 fastballs during a bullpen session Thursday, March 4, and impressed team officials. "It was the first time I've seen him off the mound," pitching coach Bob McClure said. "Impressive. My first impression is how athletic he is. His fastball command, for his first time, was really good and had pretty good hair on it, too." The team's plan is to have Arguelles start the year at Single-A Wilmington.

Royals | Arguelles agrees to deal

The Kansas City Royals have agreed to a five-year, $7 million major league deal with Cuban P Noel Arguelles, according to Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports. An unnamed club source reports that he can earn an additional $2 million in club incentives. In order for the deal to become official, Arguelles still needs to pass a physical and the Royals need to clear a spot on their 40-man roster for him. He is currently in the Dominican Republic and is expected to fly to Kansas City later this week. Scouts who have watched Arguelles pitch expect him to begin the season at Class A, but believe he will rise quickly through the minor league system once he becomes accustomed to American baseball due to his major-league contract.
