Brewers | Jean Segura on the bench

Mon, 15 Jun 2015 14:39:35 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers SS Jean Segura is not in the starting lineup against Kansas City Royals SP Edinson Volquez Monday, June 15. SS Hector Gomez will start at shortstop and is batting eighth in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Segura ($4,300, 8.6% of cap) likely is receiving a day off and should return to the lineup in the next game or two. Gomez ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) is hitting .202 in limited playing time season and is not a great option for owners on FantasyScore.

Brewers | Aramis Ramirez on the bench

Sun, 14 Jun 2015 08:13:32 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers 3B Aramis Ramirez is not in the starting lineup against Washington Nationals SP Max Scherzer Sunday, June 14. SS Hector Gomez will start at third base and is batting seventh in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Ramirez ($3,200, 6.4% of cap) should be back in the lineup in the next game or two. Gomez ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) has not received a lot of playing time this season and is hitting only .208 this season. Owners on FantasyScore should be able to find better options for their lineups.

Brewers | Hector Gomez concussion-free

Wed, 03 Jun 2015 14:02:17 -0700

Updating a previous report, Milwaukee Brewers 2B Hector Gomez (head) was examined by a doctor for a possible concussion, and the results were negative, the team announced Wednesday, June 3. Gomez left the game Wednesday after he chased a foul ball into the stands behind third base and crashed into the seats head first.

Fantasy Tip: Gomez ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) is a career .208 hitter over his 57 games in the big leagues. FantasyScore players should view him as nothing more than a desperation source of cap relief, and he only tips the scales in NL-only formats. Even there, Gomez is a low-end option.

Brewers | Hector Gomez leaves game

Wed, 03 Jun 2015 12:26:15 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers INF Hector Gomez (undisclosed) left the game early Wednesday, June 3, after suffering an undisclosed injury when he jumped into the seats for a foul ball.

Fantasy Tip: Gomez's ($2,300, 4.6% of cap) status likely will be updated after the game. Gomez has received some starts over the last few weeks but is hitting only .219 for the season. Owners on FantasyScore should be able to find better options for their lineup.

Brewers | Elian Herrera starting Saturday.

Sat, 30 May 2015 12:11:52 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers 2B Elian Herrera will start at second base against the Arizona Diamondbacks Saturday, May 30. 2B Hector Gomez is getting the day off.

Fantasy Tip: Herrera ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) has four home runs and 14 RBIs in only 89 at-bats but is hitting just .225 on the season. Better options are available in FantasyScore for a comparable price.

Brewers | Aramis Ramirez will not start

Sun, 24 May 2015 07:49:32 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers 3B Aramis Ramirez is not in the starting lineup Sunday, May 24. INF Elian Herrera will receive the start at third base, while INF Hector Gomez will start at second base.

Fantasy Tip: Ramirez ($3,700, 7.4% of cap) is receiving a day off Sunday and should return for the next game. Herrera ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has only four hits in his last eight games and is not a great option on FantasyScore. Gomez ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is hitting .217 this season and should not be a starting option.

Brewers | MIL to split time at 2B

Tue, 19 May 2015 17:32:33 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers SSs Hector Gomez and Elian Herrera will both receive playing time at second base, according to manager Craig Counsell Tuesday, May 19. Counsell said he'll decide who will start on a nightly basis.

Fantasy Tip: Gomez ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is best known for his defensive play, but Counsell said Gomez has shown extra-base hit potential. Herrera ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) is a switch-hitter, which could lead to more playing time. As of now, neither is a strong FantasyScore option, but if either one is able to find some sort of groove at the plate, they could make for an excellent bargain play.

Brewers | Hector Gomez gets the nod at SS

Fri, 15 May 2015 11:55:58 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers 2B Hector Gomez is starting at shortstop and hitting ninth in the batting order against New York Mets SP Bartolo Colon Friday, May 15.

Fantasy Tip: Gomez ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) has one homer and six RBI in 58 at-bats this season, and he could share time with Elian Herrera ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) and Luis Sardinas at the 6 with Jean Segura (finger) on the DL. Gomez has decent speed and power at second base, but hitting low in the lineup makes him lose most of his sleeper luster at FantasyScore.

Brewers | Jean Segura scratched Wednesday

Wed, 13 May 2015 15:37:49 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers SS Jean Segura (finger) was scratched from the starting lineup Wednesday, May 13, due to soreness in his right pinkie finger. 2B Scooter Gennett will now play second base, with 2B Hector Gomez starting at shortstop.

Fantasy Tip: Gennett ($2,600, 5.2% of cap) and Gomez ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) are merely low-end second base plays tonight against Chicago White Sox starter Jose Quintana. Gennett doesn't have a hit against a left-hander in seven at-bats this season.
