The Minnesota Twins signed free-agent OF Brandon Boggs (Pirates), 2B Ray Olmedo (White Sox), RP Bryan Augenstein (Rays), 1B Reynaldo Rodriguez (Red Sox), SP Virgil Vasquez (Angels) and SP Mike O'Connor (Yankees) to minor league deals Wednesday, Dec. 12. Boggs, Olmedo and Augenstein received invites to spring training.

WEEI.com's Alex Speier reports the Boston Red Sox signed Golden Baseball League Rookie of the Year 1B Reynaldo Rodriguez. He hit .335 with a .380 OBP and .486 slugging mark while adding six homers, 48 RBIs and 18 steals in 74 games. It's unknown what position he'll play. "He's not a prototypical first baseman. He's kind of lean and wiry. He's just not a big, burly power-hitting first baseman," said Yuma Scorpions president Mike Marshall.
