Milwaukee Brewers 3B Aramis Ramirez is working with manager Ron Roenicke trying to figure out ways to beat his annual early-season slump. "I would have like five MVPs in my house right now if I ever got off to a good start," Ramirez said Sunday, Feb. 17.
Fantasy Tip: If you draft Ramirez for fantasy purposes, which is a very sound move, just be prepared for a rocky April. His worst career monthly batting average (.257) and on-base percentage (.328) are in April, and his worst slugging percentage (.450) is in May. In August, he has hit .305/.367/.547.

Milwaukee Brewers manager Ron Roenicke is standing behind OF Ryan Braun, saying he's upset over the possibility that Braun is linked to baseball's latest drug investigation for no good reason. Braun's name appears in records from the Biogenesis of America LLC clinic, a defunct business in Coral Gables that allegedly provided performance-enhancing substances to a number of players. ''It's upsetting to me when they make comments when there may be nothing to it, because you can't take those comments back,'' Roenicke said.

Milwaukee Brewers SP Wily Peralta is scheduled for two more starts and SP Michael Fiers for one, but the plan is subject to change based on the Brewers' place in the standings, manager Ron Roenicke said Wednesday, Sept. 26. Roenicke was asked whether Fiers' final scheduled start on Sunday, Sept. 30, against the Houston Astros at Miller Park depended on the Brewers being alive in the National League Wild Card race. "I don't know. I can't answer that," Roenicke said. "When that time comes, we'll probably talk about a couple things with a couple pitchers. Hopefully, we don't have to think about that."

Milwaukee Brewers SS Alex Gonzalez (knee), who underwent surgery to repair a torn right ACL on May 17, is ahead of schedule in his recovery. Gonzalez has been with the team while it's playing the Marlins in Miami, and manager Ron Roenicke said the shortstop has been working in the batting cages, fielding ground balls and running, though not at full speed. "He's ahead of schedule, so I don't want to say no. He's probably got an appointment in a couple weeks, and if the doctor says he's ready to go, then we'll have to rethink what we're doing," Roenicke said when asked about a return to the lineup in 2012.

The Milwaukee Brewers will move to a closer-by-committee, with all relievers being involved, according to manager Ron Roenicke.
Fantasy Tip: As today's Closer Hot Seat suggested, John Axford will likely be back in the ninth inning before long, and he could be the first arm Roenicke goes to the next time the Brewers have a save opp.Kameron Loe and Jose Veras could be options as well, but don't drop anything of great value to acquire them; they probably won't see many chances even if Axford doesn't regain the gig. This obviously isn't good news for Francisco Rodriguez.

Milwaukee Brewers 2B Rickie Weeks (ankle) ran in the outfield Monday, Sept. 5, and is very close to being activated from the DL. Manager Ron Roenicke said Weeks could be activated to pinch hit as early as this weekend. "If we activate him, it's not activating him so he can play second base," Roenicke said. "It's activating him so he can bat, and if we get in a game where we're up a lot or down a lot, maybe we can put him at second base for a couple innings. Something to ease him in." It will be at least a week to 10 days before he is ready to play the field.
