Houston Astros RPs Fernando Abad and Wesley Wright are the only two left-handed bullpen candidates remaining in camp after the release of P Zach Duke Tuesday, March 27. Manager Bradley Mills said he would like to keep two lefties in the bullpen if possible, so both might make the opening day roster.

Astros | Intrasquad game nixed

Houston Astros manger Bradley Mills has announced that the team has canceled its annual intrasquad game, as it was seen as largely useless to the team's preparation for the season. "Our pitchers weren't really getting out of it what we'd like them to get out of it," Mills said. "We might come back with it at some point, but not this year."

Houston Astros manager Bradley Mills has been told that his job is safe despite changes in ownership and at general manager. He will be in the final year of his contract in 2012. "Brad's our manager," general manager Jeff Luhnow said. "I had a good conversation with him, and I'm looking forward to working with him as our manager."

Houston Astros SP Jordan Lyles may have his season cut short, as the team has announced it will limit his innings this season to a cap of 165 to 170. "Right now, we're planning on keeping him in the rotation," manager Bradley Mills said. "If it becomes a situation where he's having some really hard innings or he's really had some tough outings, we might need to skip him, but that's not the plan right now."

Houston Astros RP Aneury Rodriguez was suspended for three games Tuesday, April 12, after intentionally throwing at Florida Marlins 1B Gaby Sanchez Sunday, April 10, according to MLB.com's Cash Kruth. Rodriguez is appealing the suspension. Manager Bradley Mills will serve a one-game suspension Tuesday.
