Cowboys | Dez Bryant staying focused

Tue, 02 Dec 2014 14:22:41 -0800

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant is focused with the playoffs in sight. "Just by doing the little things. Not making the cold weather a big issue. Just go out there and understand what's important." It'll be good news for Bryant owners if he's able to stay focused. He's tallied nearly 1,000 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns already this year.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant ($7,600) goes up against a Chicago Bears defense that has allowed 14 receiving touchdowns and is giving up 181 receiving yards per game to wide receivers.

Cowboys | Dez Bryant more likely to receive tag

Sun, 16 Nov 2014 07:17:30 -0800

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant appears to be the more likely candidate to receive the franchise tag than RB DeMarco Murray. Both Bryant and Murray will be free agents after the season. Owner/general manager Jerry Jones had a brief meeting with Bryant's new agents, but no deal is close at this time.

Cowboys | Have made offers to Dez Bryant

Tue, 11 Nov 2014 19:49:46 -0800

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant is in the final year of his rookie contract. Dallas Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones has expressed an interest in having Bryant finish his career with the team, and chief operating officer Stephen Jones said Tuesday, Nov. 11, that the team has made offers. "We've offered him some really nice contracts," Stephen Jones said. "We also have to respect his views on where it is. My take on those things is that they ultimately find a way."

Fantasy Tip: The contract situation does not seem to be having much of an effect on Bryant's on-field production, as he has been very good, at least when Tony Romo is healthy and under center. FantasyScore owners have enjoyed big stat lines from Bryant more often than not.

Cowboys | Dez Bryant needed IV fluids

Sun, 09 Nov 2014 16:23:22 -0800

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant (cramps) left the Week 10 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars for intravenous fluids in the third quarter due to hydration issues. Despite leaving part of the game, he managed to haul in touchdowns of 35 and 68 yards in the second quarter, finishing with the second-most receiving yards of his career with 158.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant had managed just five receptions for 45 yards in the past two games, so fantasy owners were certainly pleased to see Bryant return to his stud-like form. It also helps to have Tony Romo back under center for an entire game and healthy again.

Sun, 09 Nov 2014 11:45:28 -0800

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant caught six passes for 158 yards and two touchdowns in the first half of the team's Week 10 game.

Fantasy Tip: Bryant is benefitting from Tony Romo being able to play in the game. Bryant should be a starting option for owners every week.

Cowboys | Dez Bryant struggles without Romo

Mon, 03 Nov 2014 10:21:02 -0800

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant had a tough day against the Arizona Cardinals in Week 9, but he salvaged his day with a three-yard touchdown catch late in the game. QB Brandon Weeden struggled mightily in place of QB Tony Romo (back), and the chemistry between Bryant and Weeden was lacking. The first eight passes thrown to Bryant hit the turf, and several others were poor passes. "It takes time," said Weeden, who completed 18 of 33 passes for 183 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions, padding his numbers during the meaningless late touchdown drive. "I didn't play with him at all in the preseason. I played a few plays with him the other night. It takes time." Fantasy Tip: Romo could be back in Week 10 for the team's London game. If that's the case, you should feel much more comfortable running with Bryant in your FantasyScore lineups.

Fantasy Tip: Romo could return in Week 10 for the team's London affair. If that's the case, you should feel much more comfortable starting Bryant in your FantasyScore lineups.

Cowboys | Joseph Randle with team for now

Sun, 02 Nov 2014 03:46:53 -0800

Dallas Cowboys RB Joseph Randle is "staying for now", according to a team source, even though he has been ostracized by his teammates, and head coach Jason Garrett had to have a meeting to clear the air on tension within the team. Randle was seen on video criticizing the recent legal problems of WR Dez Bryant and DT Joshua Brent, and the disagreements spilled onto the practice field. Randle himself has off-field issues stemming from a shoplifting arrest.

Cowboys | Dallas plans to attack Richard Sherman

Fri, 10 Oct 2014 09:50:28 -0700

Dallas Cowboys owners Jerry Jones said the team doesn't plan to avoid Seattle Seahawks CB Richard Sherman in Week 6. "With all of the respect we have for him, we're going to have to give him some business over there or we will hurt the balance of what we can do relative to certainly the passing game," Jones said. "We can't run from him. That's easy to say and hard to do. We got to challenge him and make him at least cover us one-on-one and Dez of course is the guy who can do it. So I don't see us compromising the rest of our offense by running from Sherman like that." Sherman is expected to cover WR Dez Bryant, with Bryant mostly lining up on the left side of the field. Sherman has allowed just one touchdown pass this year and was targeted just three times in Week 5.

Fantasy Tip: The matchup with Sherman shouldn't force you to sit Bryant in standard leagues. However, at FantasyScore, it's enough to make you consider other big-name receiver options instead of Bryant.

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant (shoulder) was a full participant in practice Thursday, Oct. 2.

Wed, 01 Oct 2014 15:25:18 -0700

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant (shoulder) had his first full practice Wednesday, Oct. 1, since injuring his shoulder in Week 2. He has caught nine passes for 133 yards and two touchdowns in the two games since being hurt.

Fantasy Tip: It's safe to say that Bryant is past his shoulder ailment. The Houston Texans should pose a stiffer defensive test than the New Orleans Saints last week, but Bryant remains a strong FantasyScore option.

Fantasy Tip: Expect Bryant ($8,200, 16.40% of cap) to play Sunday, but you should still monitor his status through the rest of the week. There should be plenty of points scored in the Cowboys game against the New Orleans Saints, and Bryant will be leaned on to keep pace with the Saints.

Fri, 19 Sep 2014 13:07:03 -0700

Fantasy Tip: It'd be a big surprise if Bryant didn't play against the Rams. He should have another fine game, but he's the third-most expensive receiver at FantasyScore at $7,900 (15.8% of salary cap).

Cowboys | Dez Bryant playing for big money

Sun, 07 Sep 2014 09:13:46 -0700

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant will be playing for a new contract this year after he and the team couldn't work out a contract extension before the start of the season. Bryant imposed the deadline because he did not want the contract talks to be a distraction once the season started. The Cowboys could simply place the franchise tag on him next year.

Fantasy Tip: As usual, Bryant should be in your starting lineup. The Cowboys will likely have to throw a ton against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1. At $7,300 in FantasyScore, hes the third-highest price receiver but he should be able to come close to providing a positive return.

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant met with owner/general manager Jerry Jones Tuesday, Aug. 26, to discuss his contract situation, according to sources. The two sides have talked about a contract extension for months but no deal has been reached at this point. The biggest obstacle in the talks appears to be the guaranteed money included in the deal.

Fantasy Tip: It would be nice if the two sides reached an agreement before the start of the season, but it should not be a distraction if no deal is reached. Bryant is entering the season as one of the top wide receivers in fantasy football.

Cowboys | Dez Bryant deal by Thursday?

Tue, 26 Aug 2014 17:18:42 -0700

Dallas Cowboys WR Dez Bryant could have a new contract before the team's preseason finale Thursday, Aug. 28, sources in Dallas told NFL Media columnist Michael Silver.

Fantasy Tip: It looks like the Cowboys want their star receiver locked up before the season begins. Bryant is one of the best receivers in the NFL and in fantasy leagues, and an argument can be made that he should be the first receiver drafted. He has caught more touchdowns the past two years than any other player, and Dallas' suspect defense should ensure that the Cowboys will be throwing the ball a lot this year.

Cowboys | Tony Romo impressive in debut

Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo (back) completed four of his five passes in his preseason debut Saturday, Aug. 16. His night included a 31-yard touchdown to WR Dez Bryant.

Fantasy Tip: Romo's back looked fine, albeit in limited action. Meanwhile, Dallas' defense looked atrocious, surrendering 37 points. High-scoring shootouts could become the norm for the Cowboys this year, and Romo has sneaky QB1 potential as a result. Don't forget about him when some of the bigger name quarterbacks are off the board.
