The Toronto Blue Jays' search for a new manager will be on hold this week as general manager Alex Anthopoulos will be attending the general manager meetings in California. "It will slow down for two or three days, but hopefully sooner than later," Anthopoulos said when asked for a timeframe on his managerial search. "I don't have a specific timeline, but we're making progress, moving in the right direction, moving along."

The Toronto Blue Jays issued a statement Monday, Sept. 17, regarding a homophobic slur written in Spanish on the eye black of SS Yunel Escobar during a game Saturday, Sept. 15. General manager Alex Anthopoulos, manager John Farrell, coach Luis Rivera and Escobar will be available to the media Tuesday, Sept. 18.

The Toronto Blue Jays are in the market for a starting second baseman, backup catcher and a power arm to close out games at the back end of the bullpen as winter meetings open up next week. "Right now, you're gathering information, you're talking to 29 teams, you're talking to other free agents and you're trying to gather all the information and sit down with your staff and make a decision on what makes the most sense for us," general manager Alex Anthopoulos said.

Toronto Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos said a major move by the July 31 trading deadline is not likely, although he indicated things could change. "At this point, though, [it's the] middle of July and I don't think we're close to doing anything. If I had to handicap it right now, I'd say I don't expect us to do anything, but that could change quickly and I hope I'm wrong," Anthopoulos said.

Jordan Bastian, of MLB.com, reports Toronto Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos said the only position that has been settled for the 2010 season is center field, with OF Vernon Wells securing the spot. The only outfielders currently on the roster are OFs Jose Bautista, Adam Lind and Travis Snider. OFs Jeremy Reed and Joey Gathright will be given a chance to join the big league roster in Spring Training. Lind is expected to serve as the primary designated hitter. Snider could begin the season with Triple-A Las Vegas.

The Associated Press reports that Toronto Blue Jays general manager Alex Anthopoulos has made a flurry of changes to the team's scouting and development departments. Former assistant general manager Tony LaCava was named director of player personnel, Charlie Wilson was named director of minor league operations and former Double-A manager Doug Davis was named minor league field coordinator. The Blue Jays also hired Andrew Tinnish as director of amateur scouting, Perry Minasias as director of professional scouting and Jon Lalonde as a professional scout. Director of player development Dick Scott, scout Rob Ducey and Triple-A manager Mike Basso were fired.
