The Houston Astros announced Friday, Oct. 19, that they've hired John Mallee as their hitting coach. They also added Dave Trembley to their coaching staff. Dave Clark will return in an unspecified role and Doug Brocail will return as the pitching coach. Mallee was the hitting coach for the Miami Marlins.

The Houston Astros have agreed to terms with pitching coach Brad Arnsberg, third-base coach Dave Clark, first-base coach Bobby Meacham, bench coach Al Pedrique and bullpen coach Jamie Quirk on two-year contract extensions, according to USAToday.com.

The Associated Press reports Houston Astros interim manager Dave Clark will be guaranteed a spot on the team's coaching staff, even if he is not hired as the manager for the 2010 season, according to general manager Ed Wade. Clark interviewed for the managerial position Tuesday, Oct. 13.
