Pirates | Starling Marte remains sidelined

Fri, 14 Aug 2015 15:23:31 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Starling Marte (hand) remains out of the lineup Friday, Aug. 14. 1B Travis Ishikawa is starting in left field again and is hitting seventh against New York Mets SP Bartolo Colon.

Fantasy Tip: Normally we wouldn't recommend Ishikawa ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) to FantasyScore users, but Colon is 1-4 with 19 earned runs allowed, four home runs given up and an opponent's average of .328 in his last five starts (29 1/3 innings). Ishikawa is still a deep sleeper in daily formats, but this matchup could prove worthwhile for those that take the chance.

Pirates | Starling Marte currently day-to-day

Thu, 13 Aug 2015 14:14:15 -0700

Updating a previous report, Pittsburgh Pirates OF Starling Marte (hand) is day-to-day with a left hand bruise, according to manager Clint Hurdle.

Fantasy Tip: The injury doesn't appear to be serious, and fantasy owners can expect Marte ($5,600, 11.2% of cap) back sooner than later. There is always a slight worry about hand injuries having a lingering impact on a hitter's offense, though. Don't be scared to take a wait-and-see approach with Marte at FantasyScore, and if you have the luxury, in seasonal leagues, too.
