Pirates | Starling Marte taking day off

Wed, 03 Jun 2015 10:29:27 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Starling Marte is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, June 3. OF Jose Tabata is starting in left field and hitting sixth in the batting order against San Francisco Giants SP Tim Hudson.

Fantasy Tip: Marte is in an 0-for-20 slump currently. Tabata ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) has mostly been a pinch hitter since being recalled, and he's a crapshoot on FantasyScore. Tabata has only three hits in 14 at-bats (.214).

Pirates | Starling Marte stays hot

Thu, 14 May 2015 14:16:42 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Starling Marte had three hits, including two doubles with a run and RBI Thursday, May 14, during Pittsburgh's 4-2 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies.

Fantasy Tip: Add those numbers to Marte's ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) solid 11-game run (five runs, two home runs, seven RBI with a .341/.404/.512 slash line) entering the game Thursday, and there is a lot to like about the young outfielder. Marte is emerging as a high-end outfield option in all formats. However, FantasyScore players aren't receiving any discount at his current cap hit, so reserving him for favorable pitching matchups is advised.

Sat, 09 May 2015 20:09:59 -0700

Pittsburgh Pirates OF Starling Marte (dizziness) was removed after the third inning against the St. Louis Cardinals Saturday, May 9, because of "extreme dizziness" and will receive treatment, according to the team.

Fantasy Tip: The fact that the team used the word "extreme" to describe what Marte ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) was dealing with doesn't bode well for his chances to play Sunday, May 10. Make sure to check on his status before deciding to use him at FantasyScore.

Pirates | Starling Marte returns to action

Fri, 24 Apr 2015 15:36:18 -0700

After a slow start, he's hitting .400 (8-for-20) with four home runs since April 17, and you should continue to ride him in a hitter's environment against a pitcher that must be precise to avoid trouble.
