Wed, 22 Feb 2012 17:19:42 -0800

Miami Marlins RPs Heath Bell, who will be the new closer, Randy Choate, Mike Dunn, Edward Mujica and Ryan Webb appear to have bullpen jobs secured for the new season. The team is also counting on RP Juan Carlos Oviedo, although he is not yet in camp due to immigration issues. That likely leaves only one bullpen position available, or perhaps two depending on what happens with Oviedo.

Marlins | Leo Nunez could be used for six-out saves

Wed, 20 Jul 2011 14:49:48 -0700

Florida Marlins manager Jack McKeon isn't against using RP Leo Nunez for more than one inning in a save situation. McKeon considered doing so recently, but the coaches informed him that Nunez has never pitched for more than one inning. "If he's never gone more than one inning, then he's gonna start going more than one inning," McKeon said. RP Edward Mujica could become the team's closer if Nunez is dealt. RPS Steve Cishek and Mike Dunn are other potential closers, but are unlikely to do so this season.

Braves | Dan Uggla acquired

Tue, 16 Nov 2010 14:46:48 -0800

The Atlanta Braves acquired 2B Dan Uggla from the Florida Marlins Tuesday, Nov. 16, in exchange for IF Omar Infante and RP Mike Dunn, according to ESPN.com's Jerry Crasnick. Uggla will play second base with the Braves, with IF Martin Prado playing first, third and left field.

Fantasy Tip: Uggla is a risky source for a reliable batting average, but he remains a great power source at second base. Infante's value as a middle infielder could be boosted with an everyday job, but this is not set in stone; he could be competing with Chris Coghlan and Emilio Bonifacio. Prado should still be viewed as an everyday player despite his possible role as a utility player. His value could also increase slightly with multi-positional eligibility. Prado's role on the team next year will depend on the status of Chipper Jones and the development of Freddie Freeman at first base. Dunn is a borderline prospect with decent strikeout potential.
