Rangers | Texas sitting three starters

Sun, 22 May 2016 10:30:06 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Shin-Soo Choo (hamstring), 2B Rougned Odor and 1B Mitch Moreland are not in the starting lineup against Houston Astros SP Dallas Keuchel Sunday, May 22. OF Drew Stubbs will start in right field and is batting first. OF Ryan Rua will start at first base and is batting seventh, while 2B Hanser Alberto is starting at second base and is batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Stubbs, Rua and Alberto have all posted disappointing numbers over the past seven days and can all be avoided in daily fantasy leagues.

Rangers | Nomar Mazara, Mitch Moreland resting

Tue, 10 May 2016 13:37:52 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Nomar Mazara and 1B Mitch Moreland are not in the starting lineup against Chicago White Sox left-handed SP Carlos Rodon Tuesday, May 10. OF Drew Stubbs is in right field and batting ninth, while OF Ryan Rua is starting at first base and is hitting sixth.

Fantasy Tip: Stubbs' value is based on speed, and he'll have few chances to utilize it hitting ninth. He's a very weak daily pick. Rua hits much better against lefties (.368 in 19 at-bats), so he might be worth a selection as a deep sleeper if you're looking to save some salary cap space.

Rangers | Price Fielder, Mitch Moreland out

Wed, 27 Apr 2016 14:27:55 -0700

Texas Rangers 1Bs Prince Fielder and Mitch Moreland are not in the starting lineup against New York Yankees left-handed SP CC Sabathia Wednesday, April 27. OF Ryan Rua is the designated hitter and is batting fifth, while 2B Hanser Alberto is at first base and is hitting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Rua hits much better in his short career against left-handers (.287 with three of his six homers), so he could be a deep sleeper worth pursuing in daily formats. Alberto has just two hits in 14 at-bats (.143) and hit .222 in 99 at-bats in 2015. He's one to avoid.

Fantasy Tip: Against Keuchel, both Alberto and Rua shouldn't gain much traction in daily formats Thursday. Look elsewhere.

Rangers | Mitch Moreland out vs. lefty

Tue, 12 Apr 2016 15:07:26 -0700

Texas Rangers 1B Mitch Moreland is not in the starting lineup against Seattle Mariners left-handed SP Wade Miley Tuesday, April 12. OF Ryan Rua takes over at first base and is batting eighth.

Fantasy Tip: Rua did have three hits last night but is just .267 (23-for-86) with three of his six career home runs against left-handed pitchers. He's also hitting at the bottom of Texas' order, which doesn't make him very attractive to daily gamers.

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus and 1B Mitch Moreland are out of the lineup Wednesday, April 6, with SS Hanser Alberto and 1B Ryan Rua in their spots. Rua is hitting sixth and Alberto is hitting ninth against Seattle Mariners SP Wade Miley.

Fantasy Tip: Alberto and Rua are merely depth options in AL-only leagues.

Rangers | Mitch Moreland to stick at 1B

Mon, 22 Feb 2016 22:36:52 -0800

Texas Rangers 1B Mitch Moreland had the best season of his career in 2015 after finding a regular home at first base, with 1B Prince Fielder working as the designated hitter.

Fantasy Tip: Moreland proved to the team that it was the right decision. He won't sneak up on anyone this season, but he is a solid mid-tier fantasy option with some power potential and a decent average.

Rangers | Mitch Moreland played with injury

Wed, 17 Feb 2016 10:28:04 -0800

Texas Rangers 1B Mitch Moreland (foot) admitted that he played the final two months last season with a stress fracture in his left foot. Moreland said his foot is completely healed.

Fantasy Tip: Moreland's numbers dipped a bit in the second half with a .269-7-39 line after a .286-16-46 first half. He's a midrange option at the position that would make a really good CI for your roster.

Wed, 10 Feb 2016 05:39:29 -0800

Texas Rangers 1B Mitch Moreland avoided arbitration Tuesday, Feb. 10, by signing a one-year, $5.7 million deal.

Fantasy Tip: Moreland enjoyed a .278-23-85 rebound season last year, but the batting average was a career high for the 30-year-old. His numbers have fluctuated over the years, but he's a decent MI option in fantasy.
