Rangers | Mitch Moreland going under knife

Wed, 29 Apr 2015 06:00:36 -0700

Texas Rangers 1B Mitch Moreland (elbow) will undergo surgery Wednesday, April 29, to remove loose bodies from his left elbow. "I'd probably miss more time two or three days at a time trying to wait it out than we would just than we would just going ahead and getting it out," Moreland said. "Being back in a couple of weeks, I think that's the plan going in and cleaning up the bone chips and being ready to go at that 15-day mark." 1B Kyle Blanks is likely to come up from Triple-A Round Rock.

Fantasy Tip: Blanks has good power, and now that he's out of San Diego and in the Arlington jet stream, he's a player to watch.

Rangers | Mitch Moreland may need surgery

Tue, 28 Apr 2015 15:03:12 -0700

Updating previous reports, Texas Rangers 1B Mitch Moreland (elbow) could need minor surgery to remove a loose body from his elbow. He first had the issue roughly two weeks ago and received anti-inflammatory medication and was held out for most of that week. Moreland has gone 5-for-15 over the last four games to raise his average to .304, though. If he has surgery, he'll likely be out for around 10 days while the stitches heal.

Fantasy Tip: Moreland ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) owners shouldn't be too worried, especially since his elbow issues didn't really affect his offensive performance lately. Adam Rosales ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) figures to benefit the most from increased playing time if Moreland has to sit out after surgery.

Rangers | Mitch Moreland scratched

Tue, 28 Apr 2015 14:47:15 -0700

Texas Rangers 1B Mitch Moreland (elbow) was scratched from the starting lineup Tuesday, April 28. 1B Adam Rosales gets the start in his place.

Fantasy Tip: Rosales ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) has four hits in only 20 at-bats this year. His limited experience and at-bats make him a weak play for FantasyScore users against Seattle Mariners starter J.A. Happ.

Rangers | Mitch Moreland has elbow issues

Tue, 28 Apr 2015 13:45:55 -0700

Texas Rangers 1B Mitch Moreland (elbow) is dealing with some elbow problems, and he's visiting with Dr. Keith Meister Tuesday, April 28. He may be dealing with a bone chip.

Fantasy Tip: Moreland ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) is in the starting lineup against Seattle Mariners starter J.A. Happ tonight, but he's not a strong FantasyScore play, especially while playing injured. Moreland also hit a meager .120 (3-for-25) in a small sample size against lefties in 2014.

Rangers | Mitch Moreland may need surgery

Sat, 18 Apr 2015 06:51:43 -0700

Texans Rangers 1B Mitch Moreland (elbow) may need minor surgery on his elbow that could sideline him for two to three weeks. The team is expected to know more about his status in a few days.

Fantasy Tip: Moreland ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) was scratched from the starting lineup Friday, because of the elbow, so owners should watch out for an update on his status. Owners on FantasyScore should avoid Moreland until more is known about his status.

Rangers | Mitch Moreland has sore elbow

Fri, 17 Apr 2015 16:55:02 -0700

Updating a previous report, Texas Rangers 1B Mitch Moreland (elbow) is dealing with a sore elbow, and he's being evaluated. However, the team isn't concerned that his injury is serious.

Fantasy Tip: Moreland ($2,200, 4.4% of cap) could easily return to the starting lineup tomorrow night. We wouldn't recommend that you start him at FantasyScore, though, as he'd be lined up to face Seattle Mariners ace Felix Hernandez.

Rangers | Mitch Moreland scratched Friday

Fri, 17 Apr 2015 16:07:56 -0700

Texas Rangers 1B Mitch Moreland was scratched from the lineup Friday, April 17. 1B Adam Rosales will start at first base in his place and hit eighth in the batting order against Seattle Mariners SP J.A. Happ. OF Shin-Soo Choo has been moved up to fifth in the order.

Fantasy Tip: Rosales ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) already has a home run in a spot start this year and was successful against left-handers in 64 at-bats last year, with two of his four home runs coming against them. Rosales, however, remains a dice roll as a FantasyScore sleeper.

Rangers | Elvis Andrus, Mitch Moreland behind

Tue, 03 Mar 2015 09:55:35 -0800

Texas Rangers SS Elvis Andrus (knee) and 1B Mitch Moreland (ankle) will not play in the team's spring training opener against the Kansas City Royals Wednesday, March 4. Andrus is reporting improvement in his sore left knee, and the team isn't concerned with his injury. Moreland underwent ankle reconstruction last year, and he's expected to take grounders and run the bases this week, but he's not expected to play until early next week.

Fantasy Tip: Despite a disappointing 2014 season, Andrus has displayed good seasons before, and he could be a nice value pick at a scarce position in the late middle rounds of standard mixed leagues. Andrus has very little power, but he should score plenty of runs and steal plenty of bases.

Rangers | Mitch Moreland to move around

Sun, 15 Feb 2015 21:05:26 -0800

Texas Rangers DH Mitch Moreland might play a few different spots this season, including the outfield and designated hitter. He is also likely to fill in at first base when 1B Prince Fielder needs a day off.

Fantasy Tip: It appears Moreland might not see very many starts at one position but he will see plenty of at-bats. He could provide some decent power on the cheap for FantasyScore owners this season.
