|Reds | Cincy bullpen historically bad|
Wed, 04 May 2016 15:41:06 -0700
The Cincinnati Reds bullpen set a major league record by allowing a run in 21 straight games after RP Caleb Cotham gave up an RBI infield single to San Francisco Giants 2B Kelby Tomlinson Tuesday, May 3. They went into the game Tuesday with a 6.54 ERA and had given up 69 runs in 95 innings with 54 walks, the most in the majors. Their relievers had allowed 22 home runs in 27 games.
Fantasy Tip: It's been very ugly. Fantasy owners of Cotham and Hoover haven't been able to watch. Searching for saves in Cincy has proved more detrimental than helpful, so it's probably best to avoid this situation altogether. With Hoover and Cotham struggling the most, Ross Ohlendorf and Tony Cingrani may be next in line for save chances, if you're feeling brave and are desperate for saves.

|Reds | Cincinnati going with closer committee |
Wed, 20 Apr 2016 13:02:01 -0700
Fantasy Tip: Cingrani likely has the most fantasy appeal at this point because of his strikeout upside. The converted starter owns a career 11.4 K/9 through 52 appearances as a reliever. Cothmam and Hoover should also be owned in the majority of leagues, and especially if you're chasing saves.

|Reds | Cincinnati adds prospects in Chapman deal|
Mon, 28 Dec 2015 13:41:50 -0800
Updating a previous report, the Cincinnati Reds acquired RP Caleb Cotham, SP Rookie Davis, 3B Eric Jagielo and 2B Tony Renda from the New York Yankees in exchange for RP Aroldis Chapman Monday, Dec. 28.
Fantasy Tip: J.J. Hoover has five saves during his career and posted a 2.94 ERA, a 1.17 WHIP and a 7.3 K/9 last season, and he stands as the current favorite to win the closer role for 2016. Tony Cingrani is a potential wildcard, and it isn't out of the question that someone else will emerge leading into the season. The prospects acquired by Cincinnati don't project to make a fantasy impact next year.
