Wed, 22 May 2013 12:08:49 -0700 San Francisco Giants 3B Pablo Sandoval (illness) and 1B Brandon Belt (back) are out of the lineup Wednesday, May 22. Sandoval is dealing with an illness and Belt had some back tightness. Fantasy Tip: Neither player figures to miss significant time, so there is a good chance they are both back in the lineup after an off day Thursday.
Mon, 13 May 2013 11:49:48 -0700 The San Francisco Giants recalled 1B Brett Pill from the minors Monday, May 13, and optioned OF Francisco Peguero in a corresponding move. Fantasy Tip: It's unclear how often Pill will be in the team's starting lineup, but this can't be good news for Brandon Belt, who hasn't been able to get going this season. Pill's power hasn't translated to the majors yet, and he'll have to improve against lefties to overtake Belt, though.
Fri, 10 May 2013 16:35:31 -0700 San Francisco Giants 1B Brett Pill has the most RBIs in all of minor league baseball at the moment, but the team has no plans to call him up at the moment. Fantasy Tip: The Giants would still like to get Brandon Belt going, and they're giving him plenty of time for that. If Belt continues to underwhelm, though, there may be a move in the near future to bring Pill up.
Tue, 23 Apr 2013 16:58:57 -0700 San Francisco Giants 1B Brandon Belt is once again not in the starting lineup Tuesday, April 23. Fantasy Tip: The slumping Belt is batting .197, although he showed some signs of life with a pinch-hit game-winning single Monday, April 22. Fantasy owners hope that is a sign of more things to come.
Tue, 23 Apr 2013 11:24:01 -0700 San Francisco Giants 1B Brandon Belt delivered a pinch-hit game-winning single Monday, April 22, hours after he met with hitting coach Hensley Meulens and manager Bruce Bochy and they told him to slow down his body movements at the plate. "When you get to this point, you feel like you've heard a lot of things, but sometimes you forget it, and it's nice to have another set of eyes to remind you," said Belt, who is batting .197.
Thu, 18 Apr 2013 10:46:21 -0700 San Francisco Giants 1B Brandon Belt had three hits, a stolen base and two RBIs Tuesday, April 16, but went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts Wednesday, April 17, and was dropped to seventh in the order Thursday, April 18. Belt has gotten off to a slow start this year after a stomach virus limited his early action. "We'll see how he swings (Wednesday), but I may keep him there for a little while until he gets more comfortable at the plate," manager Bruce Bochy said. "I know guys get hot and cold, that's going to happen. Brandon's really made some nice strides from last year and this spring with the bat. I think in the early go here, he's thrown up some good at bats. I'm liking where he's at today." Both C Buster Posey and 2B Marco Scutaro were given the day off Thursday, with SS Brandon Crawford moving up to fifth in the order. Crawford has hit safely in a career-best 10 straight games. Fantasy Tip: Belt really turned it on in the second half last year, especially against right-handers. The power is there, and he could surpass 20 home runs if he increases his fly balls, even at AT&T Park. He's available in some mixed leagues and should be owned when he starts to pick it up.
Sat, 06 Apr 2013 18:08:25 -0700 San Francisco Giants 1B Brandon Belt said he lost 11 pounds because of a stomach bug he dealt with earlier this week. He said he has been working on building his strength and weight back up.
Wed, 03 Apr 2013 15:23:43 -0700 San Francisco Giants 1B Brandon Belt (illness) remains out Wednesday, April 3. C Buster Posey is starting at first base.
Tue, 02 Apr 2013 20:52:25 -0700 Updating a previous report, San Francisco Giants 1B Brandon Belt (stomach) was held out Tuesday, April 2, against the Los Angeles Dodgers due to a stomach virus. There was little sense rushing him back against a tough left-handed pitcher, especially not at 100 percent.
Tue, 02 Apr 2013 15:30:38 -0700 San Francisco Giants 1B Brandon Belt (illness) is out of the lineup with an illness Tuesday, April 2, and he's being replaced by 3B Joaquin Arias.
