Sat, 09 Mar 2013 15:10:20 -0800 The Philadelphia Phillies have reassigned Ps Adam Morgan, J.C. Ramirez and Kyle Simon, C Tommy Joseph and INFs Cody Asche and Michael Martinez to the minors. RP Joe Savery has been optioned to minor league camp.
Tue, 31 Jul 2012 11:03:03 -0700 The San Francisco Giants acquired Philadelphia Phillies OF Hunter Pence for C Tommy Joseph, OF Nate Schierholtz and P Seth Rosin.
Fantasy Tip: Following in the footsteps of Shane Victorino, Pence goes to a pitcher-friendly home stadium, but he joins another team that likes to steal bags. Maybe he'll see an uptick there with the energy of a pennant race. Though he's not making as much contact as he used to, he remains a high-quality fantasy outfielder because of his across-the-board presence.
Joseph, who also plays first base, was one of San Fran's most highly touted youngsters. The 21-year-old carries plenty of power that could see the bigs in a few years, depending on what positional paths open up. Though his homer column has taken a hit this year, he has dramatically improved his plate discipline. He's an intriguing long-term fantasy farm commodity.
Schierholtz might see platoon duty if Philly clears out Juan Pierre, as well. He's an NL-only grab that might have deep mixed utility considering his new bat-leaning environment. Rosin has fanned 68 in 56 1/3 frames at Single-A San Jose and projects as a future closer type. Watch him in the long run.
