Mon, 17 Jun 2013 12:21:31 -0700 Tampa Bay Rays OF Wil Myers will start at least one of the team's two games during a doubleheader Tuesday, June 18, and he'll hit lower in the batting order. "He's going to play in the outfield and we'll probably hit him lower in the batting order to begin, just to take a little pressure off of him," manager Joe Maddon said. "We'll try not to place the expectations too high, although I know it's going to come from outside, not from within. He's another one of our players. I'm going to try to ease him into the whole thing." Fantasy Tip: Myers is likely owned in most formats by now, but if he's still available in your league, scoop him up. He'll play every day for the Rays and has the pedigree to contribute immediately for your fantasy squad.
Sun, 16 Jun 2013 19:05:02 -0700 Updating a previous report, the Tampa Bay Rays officially purchased the contract of OF Wil Myers from Triple-A Durham Sunday, June 16. Fantasy Tip: Myers is a top-notch prospect worth adding in all AL-only leagues, long-term keeper formats and most mixed formats. He is still owned in just about 80 percent of all fantasy leagues, but that number is certain to jump in the coming days. He should be able to help out in the power category for rotisserie owners immediately.
Sun, 16 Jun 2013 14:58:09 -0700 Tampa Bay Rays OF Wil Myers exited his game Sunday, June 16, for Triple-A Durham in the third inning. It's presumed that he'll be called up to join the Rays on Tuesday, June 18, against the Boston Red Sox. Fantasy Tip: Myers can still be picked up in a wide variety of leagues. Don't hesitate to grab him. Despite his hot stretch for Durham lately, don't expect him to post Bryce Harper or Mike Trout numbers, but his power most likely will be his most immediate contribution.
Mon, 10 Jun 2013 09:00:03 -0700 The Tampa Bay Rays don't have any plans to call up OF Wil Myers from Triple-A Durham within the next week or so, contrary to what's been reported in national media outlets. They remain intent on having him continue developing at Class AAA, especially since the offense has woken up since mid-April. Fantasy Tip: Don't let this sway you from stashing him in most leagues of more than 10 teams if he's available. You'd rather own the commodity and have to wait a bit then ignore him and miss the boat.
Sat, 08 Jun 2013 18:08:40 -0700 The Tampa Bay Rays are expected to recall OF Wil Myers from Triple-A Durham in the next seven to 10 days.
Fri, 19 Apr 2013 16:43:43 -0700 Updating a previous report, Tampa Bay Rays OF Wil Myers (foot) posted on his official Twitter account that he felt "great" Friday, April 19, but he was held out of the lineup at Triple-A Durham to be "cautious." Myers hopes to return to the lineup Sunday, April 21.
Thu, 18 Apr 2013 14:39:35 -0700 Tampa Bay Rays OF Wil Myers (foot) fouled a ball off his right foot Thursday, April 18, and suffered a contusion. He's being listed as day-to-day.
Wed, 17 Apr 2013 08:35:54 -0700 Tampa Bay Rays OF Wil Myers is hitting .317 with nine RBIs in 41 at-bats at Triple-A Durham. Fantasy Tip: He has also struck out 12 times, which isn't too shabby for a power hitter. He hasn't hit a home run yet, though. The team's offense is sputtering and really needs a boost. However, they are so cost conscious, they may try to hold off another 6-7 weeks until the Super Two deadline passes. Myers could come up at any time.
Thu, 28 Feb 2013 06:40:20 -0800 Two Tampa Bay Rays said OF Wil Myers is a better runner and a better athlete than they expected.
Wed, 27 Feb 2013 05:25:05 -0800 Tampa Bay Rays manager Joe Maddon said Tampa Bay Rays OF Wil Myers will start the season at Triple-A Durham and the team wants him to focus on being a complete player. Maddon was careful to not criticize the Kansas City Royals' development of Myers, but he said there's a tendency industry-wide "to overlook things" with elite prospects. Maddon had a talk with Myers a few days ago about how, starting in spring training, they want him to work on specifics such as footwork in the outfield, leads on the bases, etc.
