Padres | Wil Myers back after a day off

Sat, 23 Jul 2016 12:27:39 -0700

San Diego Padres 1B Wil Myers is in the starting lineup batting second against Washington Nationals SP Max Scherzer on Saturday, July 23. OF Travis Jankowski is also back after a rest day and will hit leadoff. However, C Derek Norris will sit in favor of C Christian Bethancourt, who will fill in behind the plate and bat seventh.

Fantasy Tip: Myers sat out Friday after getting hit by a pitch for the first time all season Thursday, but the absence was not believed to be injury-related and this proves it. A bigger concern for fantasy owners is his 2-for-22 slump - something that doesn't figure to get much better with Scherzer on the mound, although he is 4-for-6 lifetime against the right-hander. Myers has been too good this season to bench, so non-DFS owners should keep starting him in hopes he can get back on track soon.

Padres | Wil Myers takes a seat

Fri, 22 Jul 2016 13:44:09 -0700

San Diego Padres OF Wil Myers is not in the starting lineup Friday, July 22. 1B Brett Wallace is starting at first base and is hitting seventh against Washington Nationals SP Tanner Roark.

Fantasy Tip: Myers, a first-time All-Star this year, has gone just 4-for-25 (.160) with a homer and RBI since the break. It makes sense for him to take a breather tonight. He must remain in all starting lineups from here on out when playing, though. Wallace is barely over the Mendoza Line (.209) and has just five homers and 15 RBI on the season. Ignore him in DFS.

Padres | Wil Myers open to contract extension

Sat, 16 Jul 2016 10:24:03 -0700

San Diego Padres 1B Wil Myers is open to discussing a possible contract extension with the club, although both sides have no intention to begin talks before the end of the 2016 season. "I love being here," Myers said. "I do really, truly believe that (general manager) A.J. Preller has a plan for the future, and that's a big deal when it comes to extension talks. I love everything about (manager) Andy Green, what he's done here. I think he's going to be a great manager. As far as being here long-term, I could see myself doing it. I could see trying to build something here."

Fantasy Tip: The 25-year-old Myers is batting .289 with 20 home runs, 61 RBI and 15 steals through 88 games this season and is one of the few players San Diego refuses to include in trade talks. He's worth starting in all fantasy formats.

Padres | Wil Myers homers again

Tue, 28 Jun 2016 22:30:37 -0700

San Diego Padres OF Wil Myers went 1-for-2 with a three-run home run against the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday, June 28. He also drew three walks, scored twice and stole a base.

Fantasy Tip: That's 18 home runs this season for Myers and 11 this month. In addition to the 11 jacks, he's batting .326 to go with 24 runs scored, 31 RBI and five steals -- in fact, Myers is one of just 10 players with double-digits homers and stolen bases on the season. He's a must start in all formats.
