Padres | Wil Myers taking grounders

Wed, 26 Aug 2015 11:43:56 -0700

San Diego Padres OF Wil Myers (wrist) still hasn't been cleared for batting practice, but he is taking ground balls at first base Wednesday, Aug. 26.

Fantasy Tip: Will Myers ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) ever return to the Friars lineup again this year? The Padres are holding out hope he'll return next month, but if you don't have the room on your shallow mixed roster, don't feel bad cutting him. He hasn't played since June 13, and he's unlikely to make much of a fantasy impact in any format with the regular season winding down.

Padres | Wil Myers takes swings

Fri, 14 Aug 2015 15:43:34 -0700

San Diego Padres OF Wil Myers (wrist) took 20 swings with a normal bat off a tee Friday, Aug. 14, and he took another 40 swings with a short bat. Myers is being cautious in his rehab, but he wants to play again in 2015.

Fantasy Tip: At this point, Myers' ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) wrist issues have to be a major concern, not only for his short-term value but his long-term outlook. He's worth continuing to stash in deeper mixed leagues, as he'll likely be the starting center fielder again if he returns this year. But it's unlikely that Myers has enough time to make much of a fantasy impact for the remainder of this year.

Mon, 10 Aug 2015 10:55:20 -0700

Fantasy Tip: Myers ($3,300, 6.6% of cap) hasn't played since June 13 but has started swinging a bat again and is hoping to return to the lineup next month. He's likely to return to the leadoff spot, where he was productive for the Friars, so he should be held onto in deeper leagues. However, don't expect production to put you over the top for what little action he might get for the rest of the season.

Fantasy Tip: Myers ($4,900, 9.8% of cap) got off to a great start this season, but if it's going to be two months before he can start working his back into the lineup, season-long owners can move on. Myers should be stashed on the disabled list if possible, but if room can't be spared, Myers can be sent packing.
