Chad Jenkins Fantasy Baseball News, Notes, Rumors and Statistics
The latest Chad Jenkins MLB and fantasy baseball news
Sat, 01 Jun 2013 09:46:33 -0700 The Toronto Blue Jays placed SP Brandon Morrow (forearm) on the 15-day disabled list Saturday, June 1, and recalled Ps Ramon Ortiz and Mickey Storey from Triple-A Buffalo in corresponding moves. Also, SP Chad Jenkins was optioned to Buffalo and SP Ricky Romero cleared waivers and was outrighted to Buffalo. Fantasy Tip: Ortiz is expected to replace Morrow in the starting rotation. The veteran had already made six starts this year while filling in, for an ERA of 5.01. Only consider Ortiz for your roster if you're desperate for pitching help in AL-only formats. The injury to Morrow is extremely frustrating. Those in shallow mixed leagues should consider cutting bait if they don't have the roster space to absorb this hit.
Thu, 23 May 2013 12:51:05 -0700 Toronto Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said SP Sean Nolin will start Friday, May 24, and SP Chad Jenkins will start Sunday, May 26. Fantasy Tip: Nolin, 23, has more upside than Jenkins, and he'll be making his major league debut after going 2-0 with a 1.17 ERA in three starts for Double-A New Hampshire this year. He lacks a true dominant pitch and hasn't pitched above Class AA ball, though, so temper your expectations. Nolin and Jenkins likely face short stays in the rotation, too, limiting there value.
Tue, 21 May 2013 20:06:02 -0700 The Toronto Blue Jays have not officially decided who will start Friday, May 24, against the Baltimore Orioles. SP Chad Jenkins is expected to draw the assignment, but that might change if he is needed out of the bullpen for an extended appearance.
Sun, 19 May 2013 00:23:27 -0700 The Toronto Blue Jays will start SP Chad Jenkins and SP Ramon Ortiz on Monday and Tuesday, May 20 and 21, against the Tampa Bay Rays. The decision previously had been on hold in case Toronto needed to use Jenkins out of the bullpen earlier in the week. The move allows Toronto to keep SP's Mark Buehrle and R.A. Dickey on normal rest.
Tue, 14 May 2013 18:17:39 -0700 Toronto Blue Jays P Chad Jenkins is in line to pitch Monday, May 22, against the Boston Red Sox, although general manager Alex Anthopoulos said Tuesday, May 14, that plan could change.
Tue, 14 May 2013 12:46:45 -0700 Toronto Blue Jays SP Brandon Morrow (back) has been pushed back to start Saturday, May 18, with SP Russ Ortiz starting Wednesday, May 15. SP Chad Jenkins will likely be used to start early next week. Fantasy Tip: Morrow's back ailments have become a real concern, but at least he's on track to make a start this weekend. Given his inconsistency and injury, though, it might be wise to leave him on your bench this weekend.
Sat, 11 May 2013 11:35:49 -0700 The Toronto Blue Jays have placed OF Rajai Davis (oblique) on the 15-day disabled list because of a strained left oblique. In a corresponding move, SP Chad Jenkins has been called up from Double-A New Hampshire. Jenkins will start against the Boston Red Sox Sunday, May 12, in place of SP Brandon Morrow (neck), who had his next start pushed back to Wednesday, May 15, against the San Francisco Giants. Fantasy Tip: It appears as though Jenkins will be sent back to the minors immediately after his start Sunday because the Blue Jays won't need a fifth starter again until May 18. Look for Toronto to add a position player, such as INF Jim Negrych or OF Anthony Gose, to their 25-man roster prior to their series against the Giants.
Fri, 15 Mar 2013 11:54:33 -0700 The Toronto Blue Jays sent 1B Lars Anderson and RP Chad Jenkins to the minors Thursday, March 14.
Wed, 16 Jan 2013 19:25:11 -0800 The rotation for Triple-A Buffalo, the top minor-league affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, could feature SPs J.A. Happ, Brad Lincoln, Chad Jenkins, Justin Germano and Claudio Vargas barring any injuries or changes in spring training.
Mon, 01 Oct 2012 23:35:18 -0700 Toronto Blue Jays SP Carlos Villanueva was scratched from his start Tuesday, Oct. 2, against the Minnesota Twins, with SP Chad Jenkins taking his place instead. The reasons behind the move were partially because of Villanueva's high volume of innings thrown this season, plus the club's desire to get another look at Jenkins.
