Tue, 21 May 2013 20:31:39 -0700 The Texas Rangers have a doubleheader scheduled for Monday, May 27. The team could use SP Ross Wolf, who is expected to start Wednesday, May 22, too. SPs Josh Lindblom and Martin Perez are also candidates. SP Yu Darvish will start the other game of the twin bill.
Thu, 16 May 2013 13:52:59 -0700 The Texas Rangers placed SP Alexi Ogando (biceps) on the 15-day disabled list with biceps tendonitis Thursday, May 16, and recalled P Cory Burns in a corresponding move. SP Josh Lindblom will make the start Monday, May 20. Fantasy Tip: Burns will work out of the bullpen and Lindblom is a temporary solution for Ogando's rotation post. Colby Lewis (elbow, triceps) could return soon from the DL before Ogando gets back, so he could slot into the rotation. If not, Martin Perez (arm), who is recovered from a broken arm, could come up. Lewis isn't a bad arm to stash in deep mixed leagues with his return looming.
Sun, 12 May 2013 13:45:42 -0700 The Texas Rangers have activated SP Martin Perez (wrist) from the 15-day disabled list and have optioned him to Double-A Frisco.
Mon, 06 May 2013 16:05:29 -0700 Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington said SP Martin Perez (wrist) won't be guaranteed a rotation spot when he returns from the disabled list. Perez is making his first rehab start with Double-A Frisco Monday, May 6. "If we all feel that (Nick) Tepesch needs to be here or (Justin) Grimm needs to be here, those other guys are going to have to wait their turn. There's only one guy that I see, when he's ready to go, he's going to be here, that's Mr. Hipster, Colby (Lewis)," Washington said.
Thu, 02 May 2013 16:10:31 -0700 Texas Rangers SP Martin Perez (arm) will begin his rehab assignment with Double-A Frisco Monday, May 6. Perez could return to the team at the end of May. Fantasy Tip: Perez might be back sooner than Colby Lewis (elbow), but Perez won't be guaranteed a starting rotation spot with Justin Grimm pitching well. Lewis will take precedence over Perez if there is just one open rotation spot at the end of the month. The rotation spots are speculation right now, at best, though, so consider this situation fluid until the time comes when these pitchers are activated. Lewis should be your first target for a stash, however, if you are looking for starting pitching.
Tue, 30 Apr 2013 13:10:01 -0700 Texas Rangers SP Martin Perez (arm) will throw three innings in an extended spring game Wednesday, May 1, and SP Colby Lewis (elbow) will throw two innings Saturday, May 4.
Mon, 22 Apr 2013 11:58:01 -0700 Texas Rangers SPs Colby Lewis (elbow) and Martin Perez (arm) are getting close to pitching in rehab games. Lewis is expected to throw two more live batting practice sessions this week in Arizona, and he could pitch an inning in an extended spring game next week. He'll likely pitch two games in extended spring training before going on a minor league rehab assignment. Lewis will probably need five or six outings before returning to the rotation, so he could return around June 1 or sooner. Perez will likely throw live batting practice Tuesday, April 23, and then head to extended spring training. Perez could be ready before Lewis, but he has minor league options left, so he'll likely pitch at Triple-A Round Rock to strengthen his arm. Fantasy Tip: If you're targeting one of these pitchers, Lewis is likely to make more of an impact in the majors sooner. He's still out there on many waiver wires, so he's worth stashing in a DL spot until he returns.
Fri, 19 Apr 2013 14:37:46 -0700 Texas Rangers SP Martin Perez (arm) is expected to throw live batting practice in the next seven to 10 days. RP Kyle McClellan (lat) should be back on a mound by May 1. Fantasy Tip: Now that Matt Harrison (back) is out until after the All-Star break, Perez has a realistic shot at regaining a spot in the starting rotation when he's ready. Nick Tepesch and Justin Grimm are holding down the final two spots currently, but Perez is arguably better and has a higher ceiling than both of those hurlers. Keep Perez on your radar, especially in AL-only formats.
Tue, 16 Apr 2013 13:22:49 -0700 Texas Rangers SP Martin Perez (arm) is throwing off a mound in the bullpen Tuesday, April 16, but hasn't moved to live batting practice.
Sun, 31 Mar 2013 13:11:06 -0700 The Texas Rangers have placed SP Martin Perez (wrist) and RP Joakim Soria (elbow) on the 15-day disabled list. Both moves are retroactive to March 22.
