Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington will use C Robinson Chirinos for all three games behind the plate this week against the Oakland Athletics, with C J.P. Arencibia starting none. Chirinos started Monday, April 21, is starting Tuesday, April 22, and is likely for Wednesday, April 23. Washington wants to pair Chirinos with SP Martin Perez, as the two are friends and former teammates in Venezuela. Perez is scheduled to start Wednesday.
Fantasy Tip: Chirinos is worth using as a No. 2 catcher in AL-only fantasy leagues and some deeper mixed formats, while Arencibia is only worth keeping rostered in the deepest of AL play.

Texas Rangers SP Martin Perez won his sixth straight start, which is a franchise rookie record, by beating the Oakland Athletics Tuesday, Sept. 3. "After the leadoff double, he was lights out," C A.J. Pierzynski said after the Rangers' 5-1 win at O.co Coliseum. "He had all the pitches going. He had a great changeup tonight, which has always been his pitch. But he really located his fastball well. And he also was able to throw two different types of breaking balls for strikes, which I think really kept them off balance." He gave up only one run and eight hits while striking out five and walking none in seven frames.
Fantasy Tip: Perez has come into his own in the second half of the season and is pitching with plenty of confidence. If he's still available on your league's waiver wire, snatch him up immediately.
