Angels | Tyler Skaggs taking recovery slowly

Tue, 23 Dec 2014 15:53:03 -0800

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Tyler Skaggs (elbow), who won't pitch at all until 2016, has been cleared to resume lifting weights, but he's taking his recovery slowly. He'll be allowed to resume throwing, too, shortly after the new year, but he'll only do so in six-week intervals and will begin with underhand tosses. He has been rehabbing four days a week with a trainer. "It's a slow process," Skaggs said. "It's really getting to me at the moment, because I sit here and my arm is feeling great, I'm happy and I want to push it, but at the same time, I have to take a step back and realize that I'm not even playing next year, so I have to take it slow."

Angels | No timetable for Tyler Skaggs

Fri, 01 Aug 2014 17:01:12 -0700

Updating a previous report, there is no timetable for the return of Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Tyler Skaggs (forearm) from the 15-day disabled list, according to manager Mike Scioscia. Doctors said he has a strain of the flexor tendon, which is part of the forearm but is in a more sensitive location and could be a precursor to a more serious injury. Skaggs lost feeling in his fingers and said he "over-pronated" his arm on a changeup Thursday, July 31, against the Baltimore Orioles.

Fantasy Tip: With Skaggs sidelined, the team is expected to keep Hector Santiago in the rotation. Fantasy owners will want to keep Skaggs reserved for now, and drop him if it is determined he will be sidelined for several weeks or more.

Angels | Tyler Skaggs likely headed to DL

Fri, 01 Aug 2014 07:25:21 -0700

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Tyler Skaggs (forearm) is likely headed to the 15-day disabled list with a left forearm strain. "The doctor said the UCL (ulnar collateral ligament) is fine," Skaggs said "At the moment, it's not looking bad. I have full range of motion, and the tests went well. We'll see tomorrow, though. It's not feeling too bad right now."

Fantasy Tip: Hector Santiago would take his spot in the rotation. He has depth value in AL-only leagues.
