Miami Marlins SP Nathan Eovaldi is projected as the team's No. 2 starter. He has been fastball-happy over his career, and he topped out at 97mph in his first Grapefruit League start Saturday, March 1. But he has been working to increase his use of sliders, curveballs and changeups this spring. "I have four pitches, and I barely threw my changeup last year," Eovaldi said. "I want to get that more in the mix. Not just fastball-slider. I want to throw my curveball more this year. I felt like that second half was a better when I threw my curveball more."

Miami Marlins SP Nathan Eovaldi spent the offseason working to add more changeups to his repertoire. "I'm working on my changeup a lot," Eovaldi said. "I'm hoping to be able to throw that for strikes more. I know last year, I started using my curveball more, and it helped me out tremendously. Being able to use my slider and fastball off my curveball helped me out." Eovaldi became predictable last year by using his fastball 70.6 percent of the time. He used his changeup just 1.7 percent.
