Tue, 18 Jun 2013 09:50:35 -0700 The Miami Marlins optioned SP Edgar Olmos to Double-A Jacksonville Monday, June 17, to make room on the roster for SP Nathan Eovaldi.
Fri, 14 Jun 2013 13:55:51 -0700 Miami Marlins SP Nathan Eovaldi (shoulder) will come off the disabled list to start Tuesday, June 18, at the Arizona Diamondbacks. Fantasy Tip: Eovaldi has solid strikeout potential but has been plagued by walks. He's worth an NL-only try and could warrant deep-mixed ownership sometime this season.
Thu, 13 Jun 2013 09:33:36 -0700 Miami Marlins SP Nathan Eovaldi (shoulder) will make what might be his final rehab start Thursday, June 13, for Double-A Jacksonville. SP Henderson Alvarez (shoulder) will take the mound for his first rehab outing Single-A Jupiter Thursday. Fantasy Tip: NL-only players could take a run at either player if they're still available, but it's a flyer, at best. Deep-mixed leaguers shouldn't be as interested.
Fri, 07 Jun 2013 16:32:55 -0700 Miami Marlins SPs Nathan Eovaldi (shoulder) and Henderson Alvarez (shoulder) figure to return to the team soon. Eovaldi will make what's expected to be his last rehab start with Double-A Jacksonville Sunday, June 9. Alvarez will throw 50 to 55 pitches in a simulated game Saturday, June 8. SPs Kevin Slowey or Tom Koehler could move to the bullpen to accommodate Eovaldi in the rotation. Fantasy Tip: Eovaldi will be an option for those seeking rotation help in deep mixed leagues. A pitcher-friendly environment in Miami will help his cause. Koehler makes more sense to be sent to bullpen duty when Eovaldi joins the club, but Slowey might not be far behind when Alvarez is ready to return.
Fri, 07 Jun 2013 11:30:54 -0700 Miami Marlins SP Ricky Nolasco is a good possibility to be traded weeks before the trading deadline this summer with SPs Nathan Eovaldi (shoulder) and Henderson Alvarez (shoulder) nearing returns. The Baltimore Orioles and New York Yankees seem to be the teams with the most interest in Nolasco. "I think he'd be a great addition for somebody, as a No. 3 or 4 (starter). He's very similar to what Anibal Sanchez was last year. He's not a 1 or a 2. But he's a veteran guy who can go out and spin seven innings, and do it, I think, for a contending team." Fantasy Tip: Most fantasy owners chose to ignore Nolasco because he pitches for the Marlins. Well, he shouldn't be any longer, especially because the chances that he'll be dealt are pretty good. Nolasco has been more dominant this year and pitches in a park that suppresses long balls.
Wed, 05 Jun 2013 10:34:44 -0700 Miami Marlins SP Nathan Eovaldi (shoulder) will make one more start for Double-A Jacksonville before he rejoins the parent club's rotation. Fantasy Tip: Eovaldi is basically an NL-only commodity, but he could warrant consideration in very deep mixed leagues if he pitches well.
Mon, 03 Jun 2013 15:59:11 -0700 Miami Marlins OF Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) was scheduled to do some running drills Monday, June 3, and he could begin a rehab assignment in the not too distant future. SP Nathan Eovaldi (shoulder) will start for Double-A Jacksonville Tuesday, June 4, and he could come off the disabled list after that.
Tue, 28 May 2013 15:22:49 -0700 Miami Marlins SP Nathan Eovaldi (shoulder) will make his second rehab start with Single-A Jupiter Thursday, May 30, and he'll likely start with Double-A Jacksonville the following Tuesday. After that, he could be considered for a return from the disabled list. He could join the rotation as early as June 9. 1B Logan Morrison (knee) will play his first game with Jacksonville Tuesday, and he could return the same week as Eovaldi. Fantasy Tip: It's about time to consider adding Morrison in deep mixed leagues, as he'll become the team's starting first baseman immediately upon his return. If he can return to his pre-surgery form, he could be a nice source of power in the second half of the season.
Mon, 27 May 2013 05:45:13 -0700 Miami Marlins SP Nathan Eovaldi (shoulder) is expected to be activated from the 60-day disabled list to take SP Alex Sanabia's (groin) rotation spot near the end of this week.
Fri, 24 May 2013 15:29:53 -0700 Miami Marlins SP Nathan Eovaldi (shoulder) will begin his rehab assignment with Single-A Jupiter Saturday, May 25, and he'll throw between 60 and 70 pitches during the start. Fantasy Tip: You'll likely have to demonstrate patience with Eovaldi, especially pitching in Miami, when he returns to the rotation. Keep him in mind initially in NL leagues, but you can afford to wait on him in deep mixed leagues.
