The deal allows Arizona to send Lorin to one of their minor league affiliates without having to offer him back to the Pirates.

These moves mean that all players on the 40-man roster are now under contract for the 2012 season.

His ERA ranked third in the Midwest League. "He complements his solid fastball that can touch the mid-90s with a curveball that has shown tight rotation and the form to project to an above-average major league curveball," general manager Neal Huntington said.
