Brewers | Carlos Torres notches second save

Thu, 26 May 2016 21:45:19 -0700

Milwaukee Brewers RP Carlos Torres pitched the final two innings to log his second save in as many games, allowing no hits and a walk in a 6-2 win over the Atlanta Braves Thursday, May 26.

Fantasy Tip: His first save could be written off as a fluke because the game went 13 innings, but it is tougher to ignore this six-out effort. Torres looks like the next in line if Jeremy Jeffress struggles, so he could be worth a speculative add in deeper leagues.

Braves | Carlos Torres signs with Atlanta

Wed, 10 Feb 2016 18:43:42 -0800

The Atlanta Braves signed free-agent RP Carlos Torres (Mets) to a minor-league contract Wednesday, Feb. 10, with an invitation to spring training.

Fantasy Tip: Torres could bolster the back-end of the Atlanta bullpen as a late-innings setup man, but he'll have more value to his real team than to fantasy owners. Only those in NL-only rotisserie formats looking for ERA and WHIP help in the late rounds will want to take a flier on Torres if he makes the roster.

Mets | Jenrry Mejia lands on DL

Tue, 07 Apr 2015 13:19:41 -0700

New York Mets RP Jenrry Mejia (elbow) was placed on the disabled list Tuesday, April 7, after having stiffness and pain in his right elbow Monday, April 6. X-rays and an MRI exam came back negative, though, and he received a cortisone injection. His DL stint has been backdated to Sunday, April 5. RP Jeurys Familia is expected to serve as the closer with Mejia out, with RP Carlos Torres as the main setup man.

Fantasy Tip: Saves seekers need to quickly run to the waiver wire to put in a claim on Familia, even if it's for the short term. Mejia has a history of arm problems, and he may struggle upon his return.
