Toronto Blue Jays INF Ryan Goins (forearm) has started fielding grounders again but has not resumed throwing yet.
Fantasy Tip: The 28-year-old Goins is batting just .176 with three home runs and 12 RBI through 159 at-bats. When healthy, he should be viewed as nothing more than infield depth for AL-only fantasy leagues.

The Toronto Blue Jays have placed INF Ryan Goins (forearm) on the 15-day disabled list due to right forearm tightness. He sustained the injury while making an emergency relief appearance during the 18th inning of the game versus the Cleveland Indians Friday, July 1, but isn't expected to miss more than the minimum number of days. In corresponding moves, the club optioned RP Bo Schultz to Class AAA Buffalo, while recalling RPs Drew Hutchison and Aaron Loup from Buffalo.
Fantasy Tip: Goins was batting just .176 with three home runs and 12 RBI through 159 at-bats and isn't worth stashing in most formats. Hutchison will be used by the parent club as a long reliever and Loup as a left-handed specialist, so neither pitcher possesses much fantasy value.

Toronto Blue Jays INFs Ryan Goins and Darwin Barney each made one-inning relief appearances in a 19-inning loss to the Toronto Blue Jays Friday, July 1. Goins allowed two hits and one walk without allowing a run, while Barney allowed a solo home run to DH Carlos Santana and struck out one batter. Barney was tagged with the loss.
Fantasy Tip: Neither veteran infielder had pitched before in their pro career and for fantasy baseball purposes, these relief outings are meaningless. Barney is batting .294 with three home runs and 10 RBI through 160 at-bats and is worth rostering in AL-only fantasy leagues, while Goins is hitting just .176 and isn't a recommended option in any format.

Toronto Blue Jays 1B Justin Smoak is not in the starting lineup against Chicago White Sox SP Miguel Gonzalez Saturday, June 25. 1B Edwin Encarnacion will start at first base, while 3B Josh Donaldson will serve as the designated hitter. 2B Ryan Goins will start at third base and is batting eighth.
Fantasy Tip: Goins is hitting only .175 this season and probably should be avoided in most fantasy leagues. Encarnacion and Donaldson should be a starter in all fantasy leagues.
