Blue Jays | Devon Travis resting

Wed, 01 Jul 2015 07:46:31 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 2B Devon Travis is out of the lineup Wednesday, July 1, in favor of 2B Ryan Goins.

Fantasy Tip: Goins ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) has an average matchup against Rick Porcello, but his .220-2-23 doesn't move the FantasyScore meter.

Blue Jays | Devon Travis to hit at bottom of order

Wed, 24 Jun 2015 10:01:33 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 2B Devon Travis (shoulder), who is expected to return from the disabled list Friday, June 26, will slot into the lower part of the batting order after hitting leadoff spot mainly earlier this season. His return will bump 2B Ryan Goins out of a regular role, and he'll likely become a utility infielder.

Fantasy Tip: Travis ($5,000, 10.0% of cap) was hitting .271 (36-for-133) with seven home runs and 26 RBI before being injured, and it'll be interesting to see how he bounces back after such a long layoff. A drop to the bottom of the order will limit his fantasy value on FantasyScore, but he can still be a serviceable option at a modest price.

Blue Jays | Ryan Goins sitting out against Tampa Bay

Mon, 22 Jun 2015 13:09:18 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 2B Ryan Goins is not in the starting lineup Monday, June 22. 2B Munenori Kawasaki is starting at the keystone and batting ninth against Tampa Bay Rays SP Matt Andriese Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Over his last 10 games, Goins ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) has eight runs, a home run, 10 RBI and a .294/.368/.471 slash line. That should be viewed as his ceiling, though, and not as a sign of things to come. He should be viewed as an AL-only and cavernous mixed league option in seasonal leagues and a low-priced flier for daily contests. Kawasaki ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) should be viewed as nothing more than a desperation source of cap relief by FantasyScore players Monday, as he has a career .603 OPS.

Blue Jays | Time running out for Ryan Goins

Tue, 16 Jun 2015 19:04:52 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 2B Ryan Goins has been filling in for the injured 2B Devon Travis (shoulder), but he is likely to return to a utility role once Travis returns.

Fantasy Tip: Goins ($2,100; or 4.2% of cap) would only be worth using in FantasyScore when he makes an occasional fill-in start. Travis ($5,100; or 10.2% of cap) started the season hot and is a must-start when healthy.

Blue Jays | Big game for Ryan Goins

Sun, 14 Jun 2015 18:37:20 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 2B Ryan Goins went 2-for-5 with a home run, five RBI and two runs scored in a 13-5 win over the Boston Red Sox Sunday, June 14.

Fantasy Tip: Goins ($2,100, 4.2% of cap) has an incredible nine RBI in his last three games, and while that production won't continue, he could make a sneaky low-priced sleeper at FantasyScore during this hot streak.

Blue Jays | Munenori Kawasaki starting at keystone

Tue, 02 Jun 2015 14:09:07 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 2B Munenori Kawasaki is starting at second base and hitting seventh in the batting order against Washington Nationals SP Max Scherzer in Game 2 of the doubleheader Tuesday, June 2. 2B Ryan Goins will start on the bench.

Fantasy Tip: Kawasaki ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) is about as weak as an offensive weapon as you could choose from on FantasyScore. Avoid him at all costs.

Blue Jays | Ryan Goins update

Sat, 23 May 2015 14:09:31 -0700

Updating a previous post, Toronto Blue Jays 2B Ryan Goins (ankle) twisted his left ankle while leaving the batter's box in the fifth inning Saturday, May 23, against the Seattle Mariners. Goins told reporters his ankle felt sore but "fine" and that he hoped to play Sunday, May 24.

Fantasy Tip: Goins ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) looks like he dodged a major bullet, but it may be best to sit him until he looks like there are no ill effects.

Blue Jays | Ryan Goins injured

Sat, 23 May 2015 14:03:06 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 2B Ryan Goins (undisclosed injury) dropped to the ground in pain after hitting a ground ball and did not run to first base. He walked off the field under his own power.

Fantasy Tip: It was not immediately known what was up with Goins ($2,400, 4.8% of cap), but you may want him out of your lineup until more information is known about whether or not he will miss time.

Blue Jays | Devon Travis sitting vs. Cleveland

Fri, 01 May 2015 13:17:47 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 2B Devon Travis is not in the starting lineup against the Cleveland Indians Friday, May 1. 2B Ryan Goins is batting eighth and playing the keystone position Friday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to remove Travis ($5,200, 10.4% of cap) from your lineups Friday. It appears to be a rest day for the youngster, and he likely needs one, as he seems to be consistently flirting with injuries and has already dealt with a rib injury. Goins ($1,800, 3.6% of cap) has limited upside, but that is reflected in his cap hit, and he 4-for-11 during his current three-game hitting streak. Still, you're digging deep and living on the edge if you're turning to Goins for your FantasyScore lineups.

Blue Jays | Ryan Goins to see more time

Mon, 27 Apr 2015 22:14:55 -0700

Toronto Blue Jays 2B Ryan Goins is expected to serve in a platoon at shortstop with INF Jonathan Diaz while SS Jose Reyes (rib) is on the 15-day disabled list.

Fantasy Tip: Goins could be a cheap option for FantasyScore owners in the next week or two, helping to save salary to spread across other position. He doesn't have a lot of pop, but it also won't take much to earn his meager FantasyScore salary.
