Fri, 10 May 2013 14:08:57 -0700 The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim placed SP Tommy Hanson (personal) on the restricted list Friday, May 10, and recalled RP Michael Roth in a corresponding move. Hanson is still dealing with the death of his step brother. Fantasy Tip: It's unknown how long Hanson will be out this time. If it's an extended absence, Garrett Richards makes the most sense to take Hanson's spot in the rotation. Richards struggled during his brief time in the rotation earlier this year, but he'll deserve a look in AL-only leagues if he gets another shot.

Fantasy Tip: Richards can now be dumped in all mixed leagues, and Williams should only be a stream option based on matchups. He has worked into the seventh inning in both of his starts filling in for SP Jered Weaver (forearm), the only pitcher on the staff to make it past the sixth in the team's first 16 games. Fantasy Tip: It helped Richards was staked to a 9-0 lead after the first inning in Saturday's game, but he showed something by keeping his focus and not getting sloppy with the big lead. He has emerged as a useful fantasy option in AL-only formats. He faces a favorable matchup Thursday, April 25, in his next scheduled start against the Seattle Mariners and SP Brandon Maurer.

"Last year, I felt like I was a little bit herky jerky," Richards said. "Now, I just feel like I'm free and easy. I'm throwing the ball about 80 percent and I don't feel like I'm losing any velocity or any sharpness on my ball. I feel really good right now." He allowed an unearned run while giving up two hits, walking none and striking out one in two innings Monday, Feb. 25.
