Rangers | Texas won't trade Jurickson Profar

Sat, 23 Jul 2016 17:31:46 -0700

The Texas Rangers are refusing to part with INF Jurickson Profar in any potential deal with the Tampa Bay Rays for a starting pitcher. However, the names of prospects such as 1B Ronald Guzman and SP Yohander Mendez have reportedly been discussed.

Fantasy Tip: The Rangers have been linked to Rays SP Matt Moore and Jake Odorizzi for a while but want to keep the 23-year-old Profar, who is batting .298 with four home runs and 14 RBI in 43 games. He should be owned in all leagues due to his versatility and upside and should see a great deal of playing time over the next few weeks with OF Shin-Soo Choo (back) and 1B Prince Fielder (neck) on the DL. Guzman is a 21-year-old left-handed hitter who is batting .300 with 14 home runs and 48 RBI for Class AA Frisco and Mendez is a 21-year-old lefty who is 9-2 with a 2.75 ERA in 16 starts at three different minor league levels this season, with 89 strikeouts in 78 2/3 innings. Both players should be monitored in AL-only and dynasty formats.

Rangers | Jurickson Profar leading off

Sat, 23 Jul 2016 14:24:45 -0700

Texas Rangers 2B Jurickson Profar is leading off Saturday, July 23.

Fantasy Tip: Profar is hitting .209 this month, but he has upside against Yordano Ventura in the leadoff spot.

Rangers | Delino DeShields leading off

Fri, 22 Jul 2016 16:05:37 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Delino DeShields Jr. is starting in left field and is hitting leadoff against Kansas City Royals SP Danny Duffy Friday, July 22. 1B Mitch Moreland is on the bench against a lefty, and 2B Jurickson Profar is serving as the designated hitter and batting second.

Fantasy Tip: DeShields was demoted earlier this year after he disappointed with a .217/.294/.302 line in 106 at-bats. He'll likely see limited playing time as outfield depth with Shin-Soo Choo on the DL, but he can be attractive those in AL-only leagues for his speed. Profar should see regular playing time now between first base, DH and the outfield, and his overall .304/.351/.435 line should play in all leagues. His multiposition eligibility also makes him more attractive.

Rangers | Texas pushing hard for Chris Sale

Fri, 22 Jul 2016 15:11:53 -0700

Chicago White SP Chris Sale is a serious trade target of the Texas Rangers. However, the White Sox are demanding 3B/OF Joey Gallo and/or 2B Jurickson Profar in any deal.

Fantasy Tip: Profar and Gallo are coveted assets, but Texas is also loaded with plenty of young talent. This could be a fit. The fantasy impact for Sale relocating to Texas would be negligible, but full-time at-bats for Profar and/or Gallo would be a huge fantasy boost.

Rangers | Jurickson Profar, Ryan Rua starting

Wed, 20 Jul 2016 16:07:18 -0700

Texas Rangers 2B Jurickson Profar is starting at second base and is hitting leadoff against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Hector Santiago Wednesday, July 20, while OF Ryan Rua sees a start in left field and is batting cleanup. 2B Rougned Odor is serving as the designated hitter and is batting fifth.

Fantasy Tip: Both Profar and Rua should see more opportunities for playing time with Shin-Soo Choo (back) and Prince Fielder (neck) on the DL. Profar is the more attractive fantasy asset in all formats with his .316/.364/.451 line and multiposition eligibility, but Rua can be employed when facing left-handers in deep mixed, AL-only and daily games.

Rangers | Jurickson Profar to see more playing time

Wed, 20 Jul 2016 15:49:07 -0700

Texas Rangers 2B Jurickson Profar and OF Ryan Rua will see more opportunities at first base with 1B Prince Fielder (neck) on the disabled list. 2B Hanser Alberto will be used as a middle infield backup. 3B/OF Joey Gallo was not called up from the minor leagues.

Fantasy Tip: Between first base and outfield with Shin-Soo Choo (back) also on the DL, Profar will likely be an everyday player for the foreseeable future. Profar's .316/.364/.451 slash line with four homers and 14 RBI in 133 at-bats demand attention in all fantasy leagues now. Gallo remains one of the most intriguing prospects yet to make an impact at the big league level this year. His elite power make him stash-worthy in keeper and AL-only leagues, and he could be a trade chip this summer.

Rangers | Jurickson Profar working in outfield

Tue, 19 Jul 2016 15:02:39 -0700

Texas Rangers 2B Jurickson Profar has been working out in the outfield, which could mean that OF Nomar Mazara is available in a trade for a starting pitcher.

Fantasy Tip: It's purely speculation, but the Rangers do have plenty of assets in play in order to swing a deal for a starter. Profar has been phenomenal in limited action for Texas this year (.318-4-14) and would likely be a full-time starter for most other clubs. The Rangers won't simply give him away, though. Gaining outfield eligibility would only make Profar more attractive in all fantasy formats. Stay tuned.

Rangers | Joey Gallo, Jurickson Profar are costly

Tue, 19 Jul 2016 11:20:37 -0700

Texas Rangers INF Jurickson Profar and 3B/OF Joey Gallo will require a top-of-the-rotation starter in order to be traded.

Fantasy Tip: Texas has a wealth of resources, and Profar and Gallo could be full-timer players for most clubs in the league, so they're potential trading chips in the right deal. However, the Rangers aren't going to hand either over. It isn't out of the question to speculatively add Gallo now, and Profar should be owned in the majority of seasonal leagues already. Check back for updates leading into the trade deadline.

Rangers | Jurickson Profar draws into lineup

Mon, 18 Jul 2016 14:49:55 -0700

Texas Rangers INF Jurickson Profar is starting at shortstop and leading off against Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim SP Nick Tropeano Monday, July 18. SS Elvis Andrus is not in the starting lineup Monday.

Fantasy Tip: Playing time is the only thing holding back Profar's fantasy ascent. He is worth owning and plugging into your lineup when he's starting because of his .326/.365/.465 slash line and 21 runs through 39 games. His keeper/dynasty value is increasing. Andrus continues to provide respectable fantasy returns with 43 runs, 44 RBI, 13 stolen bases and a .290/.343/.414 line. He's a viable starter in the majority of fantasy formats.

Rangers | Texas sitting three players

Sun, 10 Jul 2016 11:16:21 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Nomar Mazara, 1B Mitch Moreland and C Robinson Chirinos are not in the starting lineup against Minnesota Twins SP Tommy Milone Sunday, July 10. 3B Adrian Beltre will serve as the designated hitter, while 1B Prince Fielder will start at first base. OF Ryan Rua will start at left field and is batting fourth. 2B Jurickson Profar will start at third base and is batting sixth. C Bobby Wilson will start at catcher and is batting ninth.

Fantasy Tip: Rua is hitting .348 with three home runs and eight RBI against left-handed pitchers this season and should be a fine option in daily fantasy leagues. Profar is hitting only.208 over the last seven days but should still be a starting candidate for owners. Wilson is hitting only .231 this season and should be avoided in most leagues.
