In one scoreless inning of work, he had one strikeout. Patel's fastball topped out at 84 mph, and he threw seven of nine pitches for strikes.
Mon, 24 Nov 2008 11:04:16 -0800 Jenifer Langosch, of MLB.com, reports the Pittsburgh Pirates apparently signed Indian P Dinesh Patel to a minor league deal Monday, Nov. 24, according to a report on Yahoo! Japan. The signing has not been confirmed, but general manager Neal Huntington did say the team has been interested in Patel.

Singh is a lefthander who throws 89-90 mph with a split-fingered changeup, while Patel is a righthander who throws 91-92 mph with a circle changeup. Neither player had picked up a baseball until a year ago. |
