Pittsburgh Pirates minor league P Rinku Singh made his professional baseball debut Saturday, July 4, with Bradenton of the Gulf Coast League, according to The Associated Press. He allowed one run on two hits with one strikeout in one inning of work. Singh's fastball topped out at 83 mph, and he threw 13 of 20 pitches for strikes.

Jenifer Langosch, of MLB.com, reports the Pittsburgh Pirates apparently signed Indian P Rinku Singh to a minor league deal Monday, Nov. 24, according to a report on Yahoo! Japan. The signing has not been confirmed, but general manager Neal Huntington did say the team has been interested in Singh.

The Boston Red Sox and Cleveland Indians have confirmed that they will be among at least 20 major league teams in attendance Thursday, Nov. 13, in Los Angeles, to watch the workouts of Rinku Singh and Dinesh Patel, two 19-year-old pitchers from India, according to Bob Nightengale of USAToday.com. Singh is a lefthander who throws 89-90 mph with a split-fingered changeup, while Patel is a righthander who throws 91-92 mph with a circle changeup. Neither player had picked up a baseball until a year ago.
