Twins | Max Kepler optioned to Class AAA Rochester

Mon, 25 Apr 2016 12:27:52 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Max Kepler was optioned to Class AAA Rochester Monday, April 25.

Fantasy Tip: Kepler's cup of coffee lead to 14 plate appearances with two doubles and two runs. He'll continue to develop with Rochester and could work his way back to Minnesota at some point in 2016. He isn't worth holding onto unless you've got plenty of bench depth in cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues. Kepler has more at-bats in the majors than he does at Class AAA, after all.

Twins | Byron Buxton not starting

Sat, 23 Apr 2016 08:47:16 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Byron Buxton is not in the starting lineup against Washington Nationals SP Tanner Roark Saturday, April 23. OF Max Kepler will start in center field and is batting seventh in the lineup.

Fantasy Tip: Kepler has not received a lot of playing time this season and has only one hit in seven at-bats. Owners should look for other players to use in their lineups.

Twins | Byung Ho Park not playing

Wed, 13 Apr 2016 14:39:31 -0700

Minnesota Twins 1B Byung Ho Park is not in the starting lineup Wednesday, April 13. 3B/OF Miguel Sano moves to the designated hitter role, while OF Max Kepler is starting in right field and hitting seventh against Chicago White Sox SP Carlos Rodon.

Fantasy Tip: It's Kepler's first start of the year after being called up earlier this week. He's an impressive outfield prospect for Minnesota, but this isn't the place to use him in daily formats while facing a tough lefty like Rodon. Kepler is a stash candidate in AL-only and keeper leagues.

Twins | Max Kepler recalled to Minnesota

Sun, 10 Apr 2016 06:03:23 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Max Kepler was recalled from Class AAA Rochester Saturday, April 9. In a corresponding move, OF Danny Santana (hamstring) was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained right hamstring.

Fantasy Tip: Kepler hit .322 with 32 doubles, 13 triples, 9 home runs and 71 RBI for Class AA Chattanooga last season, and he stands to see some at-bats with Minnesota. However, he likely won't receive enough plate appearances to warrant attention outside of cavernous mixed and AL-only leagues. Kepler has intriguing upside, but he's headed for a utility role for now.

Twins | Max Kepler sent down

Fri, 25 Mar 2016 09:05:44 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Max Kepler was sent to minor league camp Friday, March 25.

Fantasy Tip: Kepler is an up-and-coming outfielder for the Twins who combines a mature approach at the plate with plenty of contact skills. The German product hit a combined .318 with nine home runs, 71 RBI and 19 steals in two minor league stops last year. More strength could make him a 20-20 candidate in the big leagues when he arrives. Put him on your keeper/dynasty league radar now.

Twins | Torii Hunter out of lineup Sunday

Sun, 04 Oct 2015 12:24:53 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Torii Hunter is not in the starting lineup against Kansas City Royals SP Johnny Cueto Sunday, Oct. 4. OF Max Kepler is playing right field and batting third.

Fantasy Tip: Hunter ($3,900, 7.8% of cap) is being rested since Minnesota was eliminated from playoff contention after losing to the Royals Saturday, Oct. 3, and it is uncertain if he will return for the 2016 season. Kepler ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) is 0-for-3 in his major league career.

Twins | Max Kepler coming up for Twins

Tue, 22 Sep 2015 13:39:05 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Max Kepler was called up from the minors Tuesday, Sept. 22. Kepler hit .322 with 32 doubles, 13 triples, nine home runs and 71 RBI in 112 games in the minors this year and won the leave MVP. He can play first base and all three outfield positions.

Fantasy Tip: Kepler should be firmly on the radar of those in dynasty and keeper leagues, but because he's unlikely to see consistent playing time down the stretch with Minnesota fighting for a wild card berth, Kepler isn't worth a heavy investment in all other fantasy formats.

Twins | Max Kepler becoming serious prospect

Wed, 01 Jul 2015 11:15:11 -0700

Minnesota Twins OF Max Kepler has blossomed from a project to a complete hitter at Class AA Chattanooga this year, hitting .336 with a .940 OPS and three home runs, eight triples and 22 doubles in 64 games. He's also walked nearly as often as he has struck out, and he hit .364 with a 1.052 OPS in June. Kepler, a lefty swinger, has expanded his approach at the plate to become more assertive, especially when it comes to pulling the ball. He has more of a line-drive swing but has added power after tacking on 10-15 pounds over the years. He has also shown improvement against lefties, with a .910 OPS against them in 2015.

Fantasy Tip: Kepler is still far away from a major-league call-up, but he's worth keeping an eye on in dynasty and keeper leagues.
