Tigers | Jose Iglesias in two-hole

Mon, 27 Apr 2015 16:35:35 -0700

Detroit Tigers SS Jose Iglesias is starting at shortstop and hitting second in the batting order Monday, April 27, against Minnesota Twins SP Tommy Milone.

Fantasy Tip: Iglesias ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) typically hits near the bottom of Detroit's lineup, and he's probably only up near the top because of the injury to Rajai Davis (groin). However, his price may continue to be a bargain at FantasyScore as he swings a hot stick in the early going. Iglesias is currently hitting .379 (22-for-58).

Tigers | Jose Iglesias resting

Thu, 23 Apr 2015 07:09:05 -0700

Detroit Tigers SS Jose Iglesias is out of the lineup Thursday, April 23, against the New York Yankees.

Fantasy Tip: He played six straight days, so this is just a rest day. Hernan Perez ($1,600, 3.2% of your cap) is in the lineup in his place and is just 1-for-6 entering his first start of the season. He's not an option on FantasyScore.

Tigers | Jose Iglesias sitting out

Sat, 11 Apr 2015 09:35:03 -0700

Detroit Tigers SS Jose Iglesias is not in the starting lineup Saturday, April 11.

Fantasy Tip: Iglesias ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has been off to a hot start this season but is receiving a day off. He should return to the lineup Sunday, April 12, and could be a cheaper option for owners on FantasyScore.

Tigers | Jose Iglesias injured again

Mon, 09 Mar 2015 13:21:02 -0700

Detroit Tigers SS Jose Iglesias (shin) injured his shin for the second time in three days Sunday, March 8, when a line drive in batting practice hit him in the shin he bruised Friday, March 6. X-rays came back negative, and he is listed as day-to-day. Neither of his injuries this spring are related to the stress fractures in each leg that kept him out last year. Iglesias will not play Monday, March 9. The team has talked about him wearing a shin guard or added protection for his shins.

Fantasy Tip: At this point, you should be concerned about Iglesias' recurring shin injuries, even if the two this past week aren't that serious. Aside from the injuries, Iglesias won't provide fantasy owners much with his bat, which makes him strictly an AL-only commodity for his playing time as the starting shortstop in Detroit.

Tigers | Jose Iglesias scratched from lineup

Sun, 08 Mar 2015 09:14:52 -0700

Detroit Tigers SS Jose Iglesias (shin) was scratched from the starting lineup Sunday, March 8, after getting hit in the right shin by a line drive during batting practice. Iglesias was helped off the field but was able to put weight on his leg.

Fantasy Tip: Owners should monitor the situation to see he is dealing with a long-term injury. Iglesias likely will be an AL-only option this season since he is not a great offense option for owners.

Tigers | Jose Iglesias has shin contusion

Fri, 06 Mar 2015 11:39:02 -0800

Detroit Tigers SS Jose Iglesias (shin) left the game Friday, March 6, with a right shin contusion.

Fantasy Tip: The Tigers are saying this injury isn't related at all to Iglesias' shin problems from last season. That's the good news. The bad news is that Iglesias really won't help your fantasy squad offensively at all. He's a defense-first player that only belongs on rosters of owners in deep AL-only leagues.

Tigers | Jose Iglesias returns to field

Mon, 02 Mar 2015 14:55:13 -0800

Detroit Tigers SS Jose Iglesias (shins) played in a game for the first time this year Monday, March 2, and he said he felt great. He had just one at-bat in an inning in the exhibition game after missing all of last year with stress fractures in both of his legs. Iglesias said he hasn't had any soreness in his legs this spring.

Fantasy Tip: Iglesias offers very little with his bat for fantasy baseball owners. He's a defensive-first player for the Tigers, and he should only be looked at in deep AL-only formats.

Tigers | Detroit worried about Jose Iglesias

Thu, 19 Feb 2015 10:40:15 -0800

Detroit Tigers SS Jose Iglesias (shins) is a question mark this year while he deals with injured shin. Manager Brad Ausmus admitted that he's concerned about Iglesias and how his shins will hold up to playing the shortstop position.

Fantasy Tip: Iglesias is a glove-first player that doesn't offer fantasy baseball teams much with his stick. For that reason alone, he's more of a commodity in AL-only leagues, but his injury makes him a big risk even in those formats.

Tigers | Two hitter for Tigers undecided

Tue, 17 Feb 2015 16:26:51 -0800

Detroit Tigers 2B Ian Kinsler is considered the most obvious option to hit second for the Tigers, according to MLB.com's Jason Beck, but Beck expects Kinsler to hit leadoff. Beck describes Tigers SS Jose Iglesias as the candidate with the best skill set to bat second. Tigers manager Brad Ausmus also mentioned Tigers C Alex Avila for consideration to hit second.

Fantasy Tip: Kinsler is one of the top second baseman in fantasy regardless of whether he hits leadoff or second for the Tigers. Iglesias would become an AL-only league consideration for fantasy teams if he were to win the job batting second, and Avila would move firmly into C2 territory in two-catcher formats if he hits second.
