Reds | Aroldis Chapman likely to stay with Reds

Wed, 29 Jul 2015 14:14:05 -0700

Cincinnati Reds RP Aroldis Chapman is not expected to be traded. The list of teams interested in trading for him has shrunk dramatically, which has made the likelihood of him being dealt slim.

Fantasy Tip: Chapman remains a top-tier closer regardless of his jersey, so continue to view him as such. For the year, he has three wins and 20 saves with a 1.69 ERA, a 1.62 FIP, a 1.22 WHIP and a 15.8 K/9.

Diamondbacks | ARI pursing Aroldis Chapman

Tue, 28 Jul 2015 13:13:01 -0700

Cincinnati Reds RP Aroldis Chapman is being pursued by the Arizona Diamondbacks in advance of the July 31 trade deadline.

Fantasy Tip: Chapman's ability to toss a 100 mile an hour fastball is attracting plenty of attention from teams, but the asking price for Chapman may be too high, according to some sources. Chapman remains one of the best relief pitchers on the market and in fantasy leagues.

Nationals | WAS making push for Craig Kimbrel?

Mon, 27 Jul 2015 20:17:00 -0700

The Washington Nationals are the hottest team in pursuit of San Diego Padres RP Craig Kimbrel, according to sources. The Nationals are also linked to Cincinnati Reds RP Aroldis Chapman.

Fantasy Tip: A move to the Nationals would be huge for both the team and fantasy owners, as Kimbrel is a lights-out closer who could rack up big-time save totals in the final two months for a contender.

Giants | SF interested in Aroldis Chapman

Mon, 27 Jul 2015 15:07:21 -0700

Cincinnati Reds RP Aroldis Chapman has received an inquiry from the San Francisco Giants, but no offers from the two teams have been exchanged yet.

Fantasy Tip: Chapman would surely be closing on another club if he were to be traded, so his fantasy value is unlikely to change all that much as an elite closing option. Have J.J. Hoover close by this week if you're speculating on saves, as he'd likely be next in line to pitch the ninth inning if Chapman leaves town.

Reds | Aroldis Chapman sets record

Sun, 19 Jul 2015 17:09:45 -0700

Cincinnati Reds RP Aroldis Chapman struck out five in two innings against the Cleveland Indians Sunday, July 19, setting a major league record for the fewest innings needed to reach 500 strikeouts.

Fantasy Tip: Chapman hasn't had a ton of save chances for a struggling Cincinnati team, but he remains an elite fantasy closer because of his incredible strikeout potential. He has 70 strikeouts in 39 1/3 innings this season.

Reds | Aroldis Chapman on trade block?

Wed, 15 Jul 2015 09:06:33 -0700

Cincinnati Reds RP Aroldis Chapman is on the trading block this summer, and the Reds are entertaining offers for their All-Star closer as the trade deadline approaches. "It is something that is part of the game but out of my control," Chapman said, with trainer Tomas Vera translating. "I won't worry about it. It is up to the front office what happens." Chapman struck out all three hitters he faced in the All-Star Game Tuesday, July 14.

Fantasy Tip: Chapman is almost certain to continue closing things out in the ninth inning if he is traded elsewhere at the deadline, so his fantasy value is unlikely to change drastically. If Chapman is dealt, J.J. Hoover is the most likely candidate to move into the closer's role in Cincy. Grab him now and stash him if you're hunting for saves moving into the second half of the season.

Reds | Aroldis Chapman reinstated

Thu, 25 Jun 2015 15:36:21 -0700

Cincinnati Reds RP Aroldis Chapman was reinstated from the paternity list Thursday, June 25, and OF Kris Negron was optioned to Class AAA Louisville in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: Chapman missed a few days while on the paternity list, and J.J. Hoover recorded the save Wednesday night in his absence. Those in deeper mixed leagues that are desperate for saves may want to speculate on Hoover in case Chapman is traded this summer.

Cincinnati Reds RP Aroldis Chapman is expected to be available to pitch against the Pittsburgh Pirates Thursday, June 25, if needed. Chapman was placed on the paternity list Monday, June 21.

Fantasy Tip: Chapman is an elite closer, and he should be returned to lineups in all fantasy formats.

Reds | Aroldis Chapman on paternity leave

Mon, 22 Jun 2015 15:15:15 -0700

Cincinnati Reds RP Aroldis Chapman has been placed on the paternity list Monday, June 22.

Fantasy Tip: Chapman should only miss several days at the most, and the Reds are off Monday. J.J. Hoover is the likely candidate to receive a save chance with Chapman out of commission, but he's not worth adding in the short term.
