Rays | Logan Forsythe reaches four times

Sat, 30 Apr 2016 21:49:11 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe went 3-for-3 with a solo home run, walk and two RBIs Saturday, April 30, against the Toronto Blue Jays. He is hitting .388 over his past 11 games.

Fantasy Tip: Forsythe wrapped up April with a .341 average, four homers and 10 RBIs. He is a must-start fantasy option in AL-only fantasy play, and a useful option in deeper mixed formats due to his positional versatility.

Rays | Logan Forsythe, Kevin Kiermaier return

Sun, 17 Apr 2016 07:37:16 -0700

Updating a previous report, Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe (leg, hip) and OF Kevin Kiermaier (head) are back in the starting lineup against Chicago White Sox SP Jose Quintana Sunday, April 17.

Fantasy Tip: Forsythe and Kiermaier are starting for the first time since colliding with each other while chasing a fly ball Friday, April 15. Daily fantasy players may want to give them a game or two to get back into the swing of things before relying on them again.

Rays | Injured TB players could return Sunday

Sat, 16 Apr 2016 12:35:57 -0700

Updating a previous report, Tampa Bay Rays manager Kevin Cash is hopeful that 2B Logan Forsythe (leg, hip) and OF Kevin Kiermaier (head) will be able to return to the lineup against the Chicago White Sox Sunday, April 17.

Fantasy Tip: Both players were forced to leave Friday's game after colliding with each other while chasing a fly ball hit by OF Avisail Garcia during the fourth inning. Daily fantasy players should give them a game or two to demonstrate that they're completely healthy before relying on them again.

Rays | Pair of Tampa Bay hitters sitting

Sat, 16 Apr 2016 12:01:42 -0700

Tampa Bay OF Kevin Kiermaier (head) and 2B Logan Forsythe (leg, hip) are not in the lineup against Chicago White Sox SP John Danks on Saturday, April 16. The pair was involved in an outfield collision on Friday, April 15, and will be replaced by OF Brandon Guyer and SS Tim Beckham, respectively. Guyer will bat leadoff, while Beckham will hit eighth.

Fantasy Tip: There is still no official timetable on Kiermaier or Forsythe, although it sounds as if the latter has a decent shot at playing Sunday. Guyer is a reasonable low-cost option in DFS for this game as he has enjoyed a relative amount of success against southpaws in his career. Beckham could be ignored in virtually all formats.

Rays | Kevin Kiermaier exits with injury

Fri, 15 Apr 2016 17:11:05 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays OF Kevin Kiermaier (head) left the game against the Chicago White Sox Friday, April 15, after colliding with 2B Logan Forsythe while attempting to catch a fly ball hit by OF Avisail Garcia. He walked off the field under his own power, after being tended to for several minutes by manager Kevin Cash, team doctors and athletic trainers.

Fantasy Tip: Kiermaier's ability to leave the field without assistance is a good sign, although it is unknown when he will be able to return to action. If he ends up missing a significant amount of playing time, expect OF Brandon Guyer to see the bulk of the action in center field. Check back for further updates on Kiermaier's status.

Rays | Logan Forsythe exits with injury

Fri, 15 Apr 2016 17:08:12 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe (undisclosed) left the game against the Chicago White Sox Friday, April 15, after colliding with OF Kevin Kiermaier while chasing a fly ball hit by OF Avisail Garcia. He limped off the field under his own power, after being tended to for several minutes by manager Kevin Cash, team doctors and athletic trainers.

Fantasy Tip: If Forsythe winds up missing an extended amount of time, INF Tim Beckham could see most of the action at the keystone position for the Rays. Check back for further updates on Forsythe's status.

Rays | Logan Forsythe provides heroics

Tue, 05 Apr 2016 20:03:18 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe belted a go-ahead two-run home run in the eighth inning Tuesday, April 5, against the Toronto Blue Jays. He finished with three hits in four at-bats, also adding a double.

Fantasy Tip: Forsythe was hitless in his first eight at-bats of the season with a pair of strikeouts, so don't get overly excited about this one good stat line. However, he is a decent middle infielder option in AL-only play since he has a little pop, and a Top 20 second baseman in mixed formats.

Rays | Logan Forsythe to bat leadoff

Sun, 27 Mar 2016 08:03:52 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays manager Kevin Cash said 2B Logan Forsythe would be used as the leadoff hitter against left-handed and right-handed pitching this season.

Fantasy Tip: Forsythe is coming off a breakout season in 2015, when he batted .281 with 33 doubles, 17 home runs, 68 RBIs and nine steals in 153 games. The 29-year-old should be viewed as solid middle infield depth in mixed fantasy leagues, although his RBI totals are likely to drop now that he will no longer be batting fifth.

Rays | Logan Forsythe returning Thursday

Wed, 16 Mar 2016 13:58:22 -0700

Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe (elbow) will return to the lineup Thursday, March 17. He left the game after being hit by a pitch Tuesday, March 16. "I think it feels all right," Forsythe said. "It just got me in a good spot, and they just wanted to be extra cautious and come in and get a look from the doc. Everything's cool right now."

Fantasy Tip: It shouldn't surprise anyone if Forsythe fails to repeat his .281/.359/.44 slash line, 69 runs, 33 doubles, 17 home runs, 68 RBI and nine stolen bases from 2015. But there is still value here, especially with his positional eligibility at first, second and third base. Additionally, his 55 walks and 33 doubles are helpful for points leagues. Forsythe is still nothing more than an endgame option in mixed leagues, though.

Rays | Logan Forsythe out with elbow injury

Tue, 15 Mar 2016 11:35:30 -0700

Updating a previous report, Tampa Bay Rays 2B Logan Forsythe (elbow) is considered day-to-day with a left elbow contusion, the team announced Tuesday, March 15.

Fantasy Tip: Forsythe seemingly came out of nowhere last season to post a .281/.359/.44 slash line with 69 runs, 33 doubles, 17 home runs, 68 RBI and nine stolen bases. With positional eligibility at first, second and third base, he also owns nice positional versatility. He is also a strong option in points leagues given his 33 doubles and 55 walks. However, no one should be surprised to see Forsythe falter somewhat in 2016, so don't make him a priority until the end of mixed drafts.
