Padres | Cameron Maybin, Logan Forsythe to play in games

Wed, 22 May 2013 16:27:24 -0700

San Diego Padres OF Cameron Maybin (wrist) and 2B Logan Forsythe (foot) will play in rehab games Friday, May 24, in Arizona.

Fantasy Tip: Forsythe probably won't get much playing time in San Diego when he's healthy since he's blocked at third base and second base. Maybin, on the other hand, should return to starting duties in center field, pushing Chris Denorfia back to a platoon in right field. Maybin, although he's disappointed with the bat since moving to San Diego, will remain a decent source of steals in deep mixed leagues.

Padres | Logan Forsythe not ready for baseball activities

Wed, 15 May 2013 15:31:34 -0700

San Diego Padres 2B Logan Forsythe (foot), who is eligible to come off the 60-day disabled list May 22, will not start with baseball activities this week.

Fantasy Tip: Forsythe lost his chance to make a real impact in the infield for the Padres to open the season with Chase Headley out. Now, Headley is back and Jedd Gyorko has dug in at second base. Alexi Amarista has been effective as a super utility man, too, so Forsythe doesn't really have any spot to make a fantasy impact in.

Padres | No timetable for Logan Forsythe's return

Tue, 09 Apr 2013 18:24:20 -0700

Updating a previous report, there is no timetable for the return of 2B Logan Forsythe (foot). He felt a "pop" in his foot in the last spring game March 26, and he was diagnosed with a partial tear of the plantar fascia in his right foot. "We were going to try and manage the pain, but once it popped, I couldn't stand it," Forsythe said.

Fantasy Tip: Forsythe will need a stint in the minor leagues before he is activated from the 15-day disabled list. Right now, there is no timetable on when exactly he will be able to return.

Padres | Logan Forsythe out six weeks

Thu, 28 Mar 2013 10:43:13 -0700

San Diego Padres manager Bud Black announced Thursday, March 28, that 2B Logan Forsythe (foot) will be out at least six weeks with plantar fasciitis in his foot. He will be in a boot for the next three weeks.

Fantasy Tip: This really thins out the Friars' options at the hot corner with Chase Headley (thumb) also slated to miss the first month of the season. SD is leaning toward keeping Jedd Gyorko at second base and inserting Cody Ransom at third base. Ransom should only be considered in cavernous NL-only leagues if you're extremely desperate.

Padres | Logan Forsythe seeing specialist

Wed, 27 Mar 2013 14:17:00 -0700

San Diego Padres 2B Logan Forsythe (foot) is visiting with a specialist in San Diego after dealing with plantar fasciitis in his right foot. There is a chance that he'll need to start the year on the disabled list, according to manager Bud Black. 3B Cody Ransom will likely take his roster spot and could start at third base on opening day. 2B Jedd Gyorko could also move to third base with 2B Alexi Amarista playing second, but the chances are that Gyorko will remain at the keystone.

Fantasy Tip: This is a tough break for Forsythe. Ransom can probably be ignored in all leagues, especially if Forsythe can make it back before Chase Headley (thumb) returns from the infirmary.

Padres | Jedd Gyorko likely to open at 3B

Tue, 26 Mar 2013 21:21:55 -0700

Updating a previous report, San Diego Padres 2B Jedd Gyorko is likely to move from second base to third base if 2B Logan Forsythe (foot) is placed on the 15-day disabled list to start the regular season. 2B Alexi Amarista is expected to take over as the starting second baseman, with INF Cody Ransom making the roster as a reserve infielder.
