Padres | Everth Cabrera suspended

Mon, 05 Aug 2013 11:23:23 -0700

Major League Baseball announced that San Diego Padres SS Everth Cabrera will accept a 50-game suspension for his involvement in the Biogenesis scandal.

Fantasy Tip: Alexi Amarista is likely to take over the majority of playing time at shortstop with Cabrera done for the season. Logan Forsythe can probably fill in there, too, when needed, although he doesn't have the speed and quickness to play the position like Amarista does. Amarista's speed will make him a stolen base asset in deep mixed leagues.

Padres | Logan Forsythe nursing injury

Sun, 14 Jul 2013 17:13:56 -0700

San Diego Padres 2B Logan Forsythe (knee) left the game Saturday, July 13, against the San Francisco Giants due to soreness in his right knee. Manager Bud Black doesn't think Forsythe will need a stint on the 15-day disabled list, and he'll have plenty of time off to rest during the upcoming All-Star break. Play resumes for the Padres Friday, July 19, on the road against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Padres | Jedd Gyorko still without timetable

Tue, 02 Jul 2013 10:53:47 -0700

San Diego Padres 2B Jedd Gyorko (groin) ran during batting practice on Monday, July 1, but manager Bud Black said the infielder is still without a timetable to return. "We're hoping, by the end of the week at least, he's back to moving around, running and getting closer to going back out to play a few more games," Black said. He added that increased baseball activities isn't an imminent step.

Fantasy Tip: Gyorko sounded a little optimistic, but the progress has been agonizingly slow. It seems unlikely that he'll be ready before the All-Star break, at this rate, leaving Logan Forsythe with replacement value in deep leagues until then.
