Astros | George Springer to DL

Wed, 23 Jul 2014 13:30:29 -0700

Houston Astros OF George Springer (quadriceps) was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a left quadriceps strain. In a corresponding move, 1B/OF Marc Krauss was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Fantasy Tip: It's retroactive to Sunday, July 20, but this could be a slow recovery and potentially affect his SB potential when he gets back. This cements AL-only asset Enrique Hernandez in center field. Deep mixed leaguers can give Robbie Grossman a try if they can only find an alternative via Houston. Krauss has some pop, and Hernandez has risen through the farm ranks the last few years, but neither is a recommended grab in mixed games.

The Houston Astros placed OF Trevor Crowe (shoulder) on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained AC joint in his right shoulder Thursday, June 20, and recalled 1B Marc Krauss from Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding move.

Fantasy Tip: Tough break for Crowe, who was just recently named the starter in right field. Brandon Barnes figures to see more playing time as a result. Pick him up for outfield depth in AL-only universes.
