Nationals | Bryce Harper may sit out Derby

Mon, 01 Jun 2015 09:11:58 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Bryce Harper is thinking of skipping the Home Run Derby despite being tied for the major league lead in home runs with 18. Harper's father, Ron, who was his pitcher in the 2013 Home Run Derby, recently had rotator cuff surgery after a snowboarding accident. "I probably won't be able to do it this year, because he's my guy," Harper said of his father.

Fantasy Tip: While the All-Star festivities won't be connected to FantasyScore at all, most fantasy owners prefer it if their players skip the Home Run Derby so that it doesn't affect their home run swing in the second half of the season. Either way, fantasy owners shouldn't have much to worry about with Harper ($6,300, 12.6% of cap).

Fantasy Tip: Harper ($6,300, 12.6% of cap) had a quiet series, and he missed a game after being plunked in the back. He had to cool off a bit from his torrid pace, but he should continue to be one of the stronger outfield options available at FantasyScore.
