|Nationals | Bryce Harper talks next contract|
Fri, 12 Feb 2016 12:26:27 -0800
Washington Nationals OF Bryce Harper said he does not really think about his upcoming contract, but that a $400 million deal might be selling him short. "I just try to play the years out and do everything I can to help my team win. But don't sell me short. That's what you're doing right now to me, so don't do that," Harper said in response to being asked about his next contract being worth more than $400 million during an interview with 106.7 FM The Fan Thursday, Feb. 11.
Fantasy Tip: Harper will take a run at being the top fantasy hitter in 2016 and targeting him with one of the first three picks of drafts is encouraged. The reigning National League Most Valuable Player paced the NL in runs (118), home runs (42), on-base percentage (.460) and slugging percentage (.649) in 2015. With a healthy supporting cast, similar -- if not better -- numbers should be counted on.

|Nationals | Washington making run at Yoenis Cespedes|
Thu, 21 Jan 2016 08:58:54 -0800
The Washington Nationals are making a run at signing free-agent OF Yoenis Cespedes (Mets), according to major league sources. The Nationals also made runs at Chicago Cubs OF Jason Heyward and Detroit Tigers OF Justin Upton before they signed elsewhere. The Nats offer is said to be less than what Upton received from the Tigers. The New York Mets and Chicago White Sox are also interested in Cespedes, but they are only willing to give him a three-year deal. The question with Cespedes in Washington would be where he would play. If he were to sign, either Cespedes or OF Bryce Harper would likely play center field. A trade of OF Jayson Werth appears highly unlikely.
Fantasy Tip: Cespedes should already be viewed as a top-tier second fantasy outfielder, and a move to Washington would only bolster his value and price on draft day. Hitting in a lineup with 2015 MVP Harper is really scary.

|Nationals | Bryce Harper wants to steal|
Sun, 13 Dec 2015 14:00:31 -0800
Fantasy Tip: Imagine the National League MVP with the ability to steal more bases if given the green light. Harper already rests at the top of most NL and mixed draft boards. He'd be even more of a terror.

|Nationals | WSH in no hurry to extend Bryce Harper|
Tue, 08 Dec 2015 13:51:52 -0800
Fantasy Tip: Harper had a .330-42-99 line last season, so he will get a huge payday eventually. The team has other issues to address for now, and there is no reason to panic.

Fantasy Tip: Escobar ($3,500, 7.0% of cap) is 0-for-9 the last week and faces Matt Harvey, but he's having a comeback season. He's a low-end option worth consideration on FantasyScore.

|Nationals | Bryce Harper sets team walk record|
Wed, 30 Sep 2015 09:08:32 -0700
Washington Nationals OF Bryce Harper set a franchise record with his 124th walk of the season Tuesday, Sept. 29, breaking a record set by Ken Singleton in 1973. Harper has also set career highs with 41 home runs and 117 runs scored in his fourth season.
Fantasy Tip: Harper ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) is the leading candidate for the National League Most Valuable Player this year, and he's a strong daily pick every day, especially since walks are as a good as a hit on FantasyScore.

|Nationals | Bryce Harper not playing Monday|
Mon, 28 Sep 2015 11:05:34 -0700
Washington Nationals OF Bryce Harper is not in the starting lineup Monday, Sept. 28, due to his involvement in an incident with RP Jonathan Papelbon Sunday, Sept. 27, according to manager Matt Williams. However, Harper said he was expecting to be rested anyway Monday.
Fantasy Tip: Expect Harper ($6,400, 12.8% of cap) to be right back in the lineup tomorrow despite the altercation with a teammate Sunday. Amid team turmoil after a disappointing season, Harper remains one of the safer daily picks in the game when he's in the lineup.

|Nationals | Michael Taylor out of lineup Saturday|
Sat, 26 Sep 2015 12:38:16 -0700
Washington Nationals OF Michael Taylor is not in the starting lineup against Philadelphia Phillies SP Aaron Nola Saturday, Sept. 26. OF Matt den Dekker will play left field and bat seventh, with OF Bryce Harper batting third and playing center field.
Fantasy Tip: Remove Taylor ($4,700, 9.4% of cap) from your daily lineups. den Dekker ($1,600, 3.2% of cap) should be viewed as nothing more than desperation cap relief in FantasyScore.
