Nationals | Bryce Harper slumping

Wed, 25 May 2016 17:16:25 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Bryce Harper is hitless in his last 10 at-bats and has seen his batting average drop to a season-low .245 mark. He is batting just .200 over his last 100 at-bats dating back to April 18, and hasn't homered since May 13.

Fantasy Tip: DFS players will probably want to think twice about inserting Harper into their lineups at his current price tag but seasonal owners should continue starting him in the hopes that he will snap out of his funk soon.

Nationals | Bryce Harper takes a seat

Wed, 25 May 2016 08:37:33 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Bryce Harper is out of the lineup Wednesday, May 25, with 2B Daniel Murphy hitting third. OF Chris Heisey is hitting seventh and playing right field.

Fantasy Tip: Murphy refuses to cool off as he has a robust .411-5-19 line this month. He's one of the top few players at his position in fantasy. Heisey has some upside against left-hander Steven Matz as he has hit well against lefties in his career. He's a low-end option to consider today.

The good news is he's still reaching base often with a league-leading 41 free passes. You're not benching him in seasonal leagues, but don't pay up for him right now in daily formats.

Nationals | Bryce Harper on record pace

Mon, 16 May 2016 09:07:24 -0700

Washington Nationals OF Bryce Harper already has 24 walks in 14 games in May after walking 17 times in April. He's on pace for 175 walks in 2016. Barry Bonds is the only other player to walk more times in a season.

Fantasy Tip: Opposing teams are starting to pitch around Harper more and more to avoid serious damage with runners on base in front of him. While the strategy will likely cut down on Harper's RBI totals at the end of the year, it shouldn't worry his owners in the long run. He remains an elite player in all aspects.
